The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

Rated R for graphic bloody violence and pervasive language.

Ripley is shown getting out of bed; she is naked, but no nudity is shown; we see a back view of her showing her side from about her mid thigh up to her armpit that is naked.

Ripley is in the shower, naked (nothing is shown but her head and shoulders).

Implied sex between a man and a woman; they are shown in bed together apparently after sex, but they are both clothed.

A man attempts to rape a woman, but she is rescued before anything can happen (no nudity).

Violence & Gore

There is an autopsy scene where we hear the cutting open of the body and the cracking of the breast bone and separation of the ribs (the doctor has lots of blood on his gown).

In the original version, an alien bursts out of a dog (lots of blood can be seen splattering all over the floor); in the special edition, the alien bursts out of a dead ox (less disturbing).

A man beats several other men with a steel bar.

A woman's nose bleeds briefly.

The alien attacks one man, making him fall back into a giant fan; he is chopped up into bits.

The alien attacks several characters by using it's mouth within a mouth to penetrate their skulls (lots of blood is in these scenes).

One character is shot with a machine gun.

A man is hit over the head and his ear is nearly torn off.

In the original version, an alien bursts out of Ripley as she plummets to her death (it does not burst out of her in the special edition).

Profanity

Almost pervasive strong language, including frequent usage of the f-word; the theatrical version has 85 uses of the F-word; the f-word is used 114 times in the special edition.

A few of the characters smoke; casual drinking in one scene.

Many scary scenes with the alien attacking characters and chasing them through the prison.
