“There was still so much mystery and tension, and I found myself scoring more than I ever scored before in the show with all the new characters,” reveals Siddhartha Khosla. The Emmy-nominated composer returned for Season 3 of “Only Murders in the Building” to expand the sonic identity of Hulu’s comedic murder mystery. “On a show like this, we don’t have tons of time, so we get the cuts, score them, they’re in,” remarks Khosla, “And especially since the score is sort of baked into the identity of the show, the themes and the ideas have to be there sort of early on.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.
“I’m a singer songwriter before I was ever a composer for TV and film. So I think of everything like these little songs,” says Khosla of his approach to composing. He constructs a theme for each character, complete...

Toronto: Why 'Into the Forest' Filmmaker Patricia Rozema Is Only Making Female-Led Films From Now On
Read More: Patricia Rozema, Sophie Deraspe and Other Female Canadian Talent To Be Feted at Tiff Canadian filmmaker Patricia Rozema has long been captivated by films that focus squarely on women and their experiences in the world, as evidenced by features like her seminal lesbian dramedy "I've Heard the Mermaids Singing," the murder mystery "White Room" and the Jane Austen adaptation "Mansfield Park." For her latest film, however, Rozema turns her eye to something slightly different -- still women and their experiences, but ones that take place beyond the existing world. In "Into the Forest," sisters Nell (Ellen Page) and Eva (Evan Rachel Wood) live through some kind of cataclysmic event -- the film, based on Jean Hegland's book of the same name, never quite clarifies what has happened, a narrative choice that Rozema effectively translates to the big screen -- and then attempt to carve out a new...

One particular track on the soundtrack to Due Date, the new road trip comedy with Robert Downey, Jr. and Zach Galifianakis, exerted a curious fascination for me – This is Why I’m Hot, by the modest Mims. Mind, it wasn’t so much the song itself as one specific lyric, which (if I heard it correctly) sounded very much like: “I’m representing York”. Now, if that is indeed the correct interpretation, then I can only wholeheartedly applaud the sentiment. It’s about time the northern cities of the United Kingdom were celebrated in contemporary song. One minor quibble would be Mims’ neglect to devote a verse to the prodigious merits of the Jorvik Viking Centre, but you can’t have everything, can you?
Indeed not. Just ask Christophe Beck. His is the name you will see attached to the ‘music by’ credit if you go and catch Rdj and...

"Freaks and Geeks" is now airing on IFC, and we thought we'd take this opportunity to revisit the show that launched a thousand bromance movies. Every week, Matt Singer and Alison Willmore will be offering their thoughts on that night's episode.
Episode 6: I'm With the Band
Directed by Judd Apatow
Written by Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah
Originally aired November 13, 1999
"Hey, I want to play it again. Put more dry ice in the bucket!" -- Nick
Alison: Matt, I may have told you in passing that I thought "Beers and Weirs" was the series' most painfully awkward episode. Obviously, I was wrong. "I'm With the Band" is an absolute symphony of watch-with-your-hands-over-your-eyes moments, culminating in two sequences in which characters venture into new experiences and are rewarded with reoccurring nightmare-type outcomes.
Let's start with the geeks. The show has established Sam's discomfort with his own pre-pubescent physicality (and physicality in general) before,...

If you should spot Eric Clapton in the next few hours, be sure to throw some streamers at him and find out what flavor ice cream cake he prefers, because the legendary guitarist turns 65 years old today. The man who was called both "Slowhand" and "God" back in the 1970s has laid out an unbelievable career for himself, contributing to some of the most iconic rock bands and songs of all time.
In the '60s, he moved around from band to band, serving time in the Yardbirds (a haven for iconic guitarists who later gave work to both Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck), John Mayall's Bluesbreakers (where Clapton had his first real chart success), Cream (a retroactive supergroup that featured fellow Bluesbreaker Jack Bruce and legendary drummer Ginger Baker) and Blind Faith (another supergroup that also featured Traffic guitarist Steve Winwood). The list of songs that feature Clapton...

Walking by the Tombstone Boarding House, you would never guess that behind the white picket fence lurks an assortment of ghosts. The spirits are as tranquil as the setting so you won't be frightened if you spend the night.
The adobe house, originally known as the Barrows Boarding House, was built in 1880 by Tombstone's first bank manager and was remodeled and enlarged in the early 1930s. This is where Shirley and Ted Villarin, owners of Tombstone Boarding House, reside. A unique breed of entities occupies their second dwelling, the one you can rent for the night.
A participant in the legendary "gunfight at the O.K. Corral," which occurred on October 16,1881, Billy Clanton was one of three casualties. One account states that he didn't die of his injuries right away and was whisked away to a nearby building. Could it have been the White Room in the Barrows Boarding House...

Hey Game Ranters, it’s Thursday, which means Sony has updated the PlayStation Store with new games, applications, and customizations for your PS3 and PSP. In addition to the PlayStation Store update we’ll also be covering retail game releases for the upcoming Tuesday as well.
This week on retails shelves sees the release of recently-shuttered Pandemic Studios’ title The Saboteur which suffered numerous production setbacks but is finally ready for release. The $49.99 price tag makes the package appealing but with numerous bargains available through the holiday season, there’s likely several other titles discerning gamers would rather check out. James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game arrives on Umd for the PSP; though, like most movie tie-ins, the game is mostly an uninspired endeavor.
The original Call of Duty is available today on the PlayStation Store and supports full online multiplayer, including leaderboards and other community features – all in full HD.

Clockwise from left: Kate Winslet in Elle, Dustin Lance Black in Vogue,
Masahiro Motoki in White Room, Sean Penn in tie and Penélope Cruz
in only a bedsheet. Mmmm.
I'm asking because I'm still detoxing from all the collective beauty on Sunday.
And yes, I'm cheating a bit to include Masahiro Motoki who is not an Oscar winner. But he is the star of Oscar winning foreign film Departures and he was on stage next to the Oscar. And he did win the Japanese Best Actor Oscar for the performance. That said he doesn't really need the help of the beauty-by-statue-association,...
