R2 France (Seven 7 Sept) "International Cut" 103:52 minutes (PAL). R2 Scandinavia - (Scanbox Entertainment) "International Cut" 103:30 minutes (PAL). R2 United Kingdom (Universal Pictures) "International Cut" 103:41 minutes (PAL). R4 Australia (Big Sky Video) "R-Rated US Cut" 104:56 minutes (NTSC).
- The French R2 version called Full Contact is the true complete and uncut version, it has all these scenes intact and the Francois burning scene is actually longer by a few seconds.
- There has never been a full uncut version of Lionheart released anywhere in the world. The most complete versions ever released are the old VHS versions on Guild Home Video/4 Front from the UK and the Australian VHS release on Palace Video with an R classification. The M classified Palace version was cut for violence. The R2 French DVD entitled Full Contact is the exact same version as the old VHS releases mentioned above but all of these versions are still missing 4 scenes that were in the newer DVD releases entitled Lionheart. The missing scenes in Question are: 1. The shot of the camp is shorter (2 seconds cut) than the R Rated DVD just before Lyon is talking to the head Legionnaire about his brother being hurt two weeks ago and why he wasn't told. 2. Lyon dives into the sea from the ship, but we don't see him resurface and swim a few strokes away (3 seconds cut). 3. A shot of driving cars in New York is cut just after Joshua tells Lyon, we just gotta go see some people you know what I'm saying (4 seconds) cut. 4. After Lyon says that he doesn't like the clothes, Cynthia takes him shopping but the scene where Cynthia tries to seduce him in the changing cubical is cut in these versions. After she say's "Try this one please, S'il Vous Plait?" She touches him seductively. "How about this? Any better?" The salesman coughs slightly and asks: "Everything okay in there?" Lyon then replies "Everything is fine." (22 seconds cut). Apart from these slightly shortened/cut scenes, the versions listed above on VHS from Guild/4 Front (UK), Palace (Australian R classified version) and French R2 DVD entitled Full Contact are the longest available versions available.
- Using the "Leon" title and based on the European theatrical version, German version was cut in one scene (Leon's brother burning in flames) to qualify for a "not under 18" rating from the FSK. The "not under 16" rated VHS release by Arcade Video is much further cut by 11 minutes to have all fight scenes shortened or removed entirely. Only in 2014 was the uncut version granted a "not under 18" rating, waiving the censorship from older German releases.
- The Australian version rated M and titled 'Wrong Bet' is edited for violence, but contains other scenes not shown in the version titled 'Lionheart'. Some edited scenes in 'Wrong Bet' are: When Lyon's brother gets set on fire (whole scene edited), the scene where Lyon escapes from the Legion, the bit where Lyon stabs the guy in the hand is edited, exchanged looks with Lyon and Atila with bloody faces at the end of the match when Lyon is about to punch him is edited on 'Wrong Bet' also. There are more scenes edited as well. Some extra scenes in 'Wrong Bet' include a scene where Lyon comes out of the water after jumping out of the boat, a scene where Cynthia swears at Lyon and demands him to get out of her room when Lyon wants to setup an account. The most interesting scene shown in 'Wrong Bet' is an alternate take in the hospital when Lyon finds out his brother dies. In 'Lionheart', when Lyon asks the doctor if they have found the killers, the doctor says yes. In 'Wrong Bet', the doctor says no, and they may never find out who the killers were. It's possible that 'A.W.O.L', released in UK, is the same as 'Wrong Bet'.
