a film based on the last great TECHNO THRILLER books of the 80's and 90's., 10 March 2002

The techno thriller has died. FLIGHT OF THE INTRUDER was based on a realistic novel by real life A-6 pilot STEPHEN COONTS. The books (as most) was something i liked more than the film. This production is a adaptation to the book with only a few differences. Flight of the Intruder is the story of a A-6 crew who goes against orders and strikes NORTH VIETNAM in 1972 and the fallout of this AWOL raid. A fun and interesting looking air war film, FLIGHT OF THE INTRUDER is a must for fans of movies like BRIDGES OF TOKO-RI. This film should be viewed as classic "popcorn and coke" war movie fare. Fans of the book should keep in mind many times things translate differently in adaptations between books and celluloid and this film is no exception. Intruder is the last of the great so claled TECHNO THRILLER cold war spy books and action books (genre invovled everything from spys to jet fly boys to subs and so forth). The Genere of this film and the book based on it was popular in the republican inspired 1980's and 1990's (early 90's).
