Daniel Craig Moves Into His Dream House

29 August 2009 1:02 AM, PDT | FilmShaft.com | See recent FilmShaft.com news »

Jim Sheridan used to be a great director. He made My Left Foot in 1989, The Field in 1990, In The Name Of The Father in 1993, The Boxer in 1997 and In America as recently as 2002. Then for some unknown reason he pissed it all away by directing Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ with 50 Cent. What was he thinking?

I hope Daniel Day Lewis deleted him from his friends list on his facebook account after that huge mistake!

A few years on and Sheridan has a film that has generated interest recently not least because James Bond has signed up to be in it. It is called Dream House and Daniel Craig has been in talks to star since June. Craig plays a family man who relocates his brood to a small town in New England.

Brothers – Official Trailer And Teaser Poster

13 July 2009 12:42 PM, PDT | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

From director Jim Sheridan, the force behind some of the most powerful movies in recent memory (My Left Foot, The Field, In the Name of the Father) comes Brothers, the story of a family torn apart by the misfortunes of war. The film is set for release December 4th, 2009. The trailer may look a little long on melodrama, but I can see Sheridan making it work. The real test will be the abilities of our three younger actors. Here's the synopsis from the press release, and below find the trailer. Brothers tells the powerful story of two siblings, thirty-something Captain Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire) and younger brother Tommy Cahill (Jake Gyllenhaal), who are polar opposites. A Marine about to embark on his fourth tour of duty, Sam is a steadfast family man married to his high school sweetheart, the aptly named Grace (Natalie Portman), with whom he has two young daughters (Bailee Madison, »

Weekend Movie News Wrap Up: June 28, 2009

28 June 2009 7:58 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

This week:

The box office is Transfomed; Ryan Reynold’s career is Buried; Lorenzo di Bonaventura knows Jack Ryan; Zac Efron grows up and Daniel Craig moves into his Dream House.

Box Office

Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen blasted into the top spot with a powerful $201 million in its first five days. The Michael Bay sequel overcame horrendous reviews to show that all an audience wants is giant robots and Megan Fox. You can bet your butt that Transformers 3 will be on its way soon!

With a second weekend take of $18 million it looks like The Proposal is the bridesmaid. The Sandra Bullock comedy has now banked $69 million. A final take of $100 million is pretty much a cert.

The Hangover brought in $17 million bringing giving the hit comedy a mighty total gross of $183 million. Look for the film to cross the magic $200 million mark in a week or so. »

Are You Ready To Enter... The Field?

13 January 2009 11:15 PM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

First-time writers Sean Wathen and Josh Dobkin have sold production company Stone Village their script The Field, a high-concept Cube-like thriller. We say ‘Cube-like’, but in reality, we’re tempted to use the dread word ‘reimagining’, for the premise, in which a group of strangers wake up in a hellish prison and must work together to escape, sounds a hell of a lot like Vincenzo Natali’s 1997 cult classic. Except, where Cube took place in, well, a cube, The Field will take place in… oh, take a wild guess.Of course, the field in which the movie’s characters find themselves isn’t just any field. This is an apparently endless field from which there’s no escape – luckily, the group has been given a number of seemingly random objects which may, just may, aid their escape. So, it’s Cube meets Saw meets Paycheck (but not, as far as we can tell, »
