• Errors in geography: Lloyd sat with Diane at Bell Square, but when they show the mall they are actually showing Westlake, not Bell Square.
  
  
• Continuity: Diane's hair during the break-up scene in the car: It's over her shoulder, then behind her shoulder, etc.
  
  
• Continuity: When Diane is talking to Lloyd after his nose has been broken, blood on his face disappears and reappears between shots.
  
  

• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Joe arrives at the party with his girlfriend, she says "I'll be in the kitchen, Joe", but her lips say "Bye, baby".
  
  
• Continuity: When Lloyd first calls Diane, he gives 555-1342 as his phone number. But when Diane reads the message taken by her father, the number is 555-2342. Even though she has the wrong number written down, it still works.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Lloyd and Diane are walking through the crowd of people at the party, two people are seen arguing. One of them mentions going to summer school but his mouth is saying something different
  
  
• Continuity: In the break-up scene in the car the background changes completely. Before the line "You told your dad?" you can see an intersection and a hillside behind them, then after there is a yellow house and two parked cars.
  
  
• Continuity: The key bag at the graduation party alternates in fullness throughout the evening. When it is handed to Lloyd at the beginning of the night, it appears full, and in subsequent shots (which show Lloyd collecting keys) the bag goes from appearing nearly empty to its eventual (and initial) state of being filled.
  
  
• Continuity: When Diane's Dad gives her the ring as a graduation present, Diane slips it on her finger. Once the shot cuts away and comes back, she is still holding the ring with the ring bag in her hands.
  
  
• Errors in geography: In the scene where Lloyd is holding up the stereo, it appears as though he is standing in a park. However, earlier in the movie, you can see the front of Diane's house and the neighborhood. There is no way they could have had that sort of backyard in the neighborhood where the Courts live.
  
  
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Diane is giving her speech at graduation, she never once looks at her stack of cue cards, though she is shown holding them.
  
  
• Plot holes: When Lloyd leaves a message for Diane, he tells her father than he's the guy who sat with her at "the mall." In his written message (seen on screen, and mentioned by Diane in her call with Lloyd) it says Lloyd sat with her at "Bell Square." There are, of course, lots of malls in the Seattle area, and Bellevue Square is not a likely one for Diane's father to assume (if he were making an assumption), as it is not even in Seattle, but in the suburbs on the other side of Lake Washington.
  
  
• Continuity: When Lloyd and Diane drop off the drunk guy at his house after the graduation party, the street and driveway are completely wet. However, when Lloyd walks Diane home the same morning, the streets and sidewalks are completely dry.
  
  
• Continuity: When Jim Court is shopping for luggage, he is wearing a tan jacket. After his credit card is denied, the next scene has him in a dark suit in the bathtub.
