  • Factual errors: After a successful retardant drop, a tanker pilot lands at the tanker base and taxis to a stop. His plane is surrounded by cheering firefighters who appear to have been working on the fire as their fire clothes are dirty and they are holding firefighting tools. Real firefighters wouldn't be hanging around a tanker base after being out on the fireline, and if they were they would not be allowed to swarm a plane on the taxi way - too much chance of someone getting cut up by a propeller or run over by a plane.

  • Factual errors: At the climax of the film, a group of endangered smokejumpers is supposedly making their way to a river and safety. However, they are clearly moving uphill. You move uphill to get to a ridge (a fairly safe place to be in a wildfire); you move downhill to get to a river. Also, the entire notion of using retardant drops to save lives from a running timber fire is bogus. Retardant is dropped to slow down (retard) fires so they can be fought more safely, not to save lives.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Al's engine catches fire, he is heard saying "My engine's on fire, you believe that?" while it is clear that the actor is saying "you believe that shit?" In fact, you can still hear the "sh" sound from the cut-out profanity at the end of the spoken line.

  • Continuity: In the club, Dorinda, after changing into her new white dress says, "If you want to dance with this dress, you have to wash your hands." The firefighters wash and dry their hands and as they leave the bathroom, their shirts are still dirty, but when they are dancing with Dorinda, their shirts are clean.

  • Continuity: When Al's cigar catches fire, nearly half of it goes up in flames. When we see it a few moments later, only the tip is lit.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Ted gives CPR to the bus driver, he is clearly pretending to perform chest compressions and breathe into him. Doing real compressions on a beating heart can actually cause the heart to stop.

  • Miscellaneous: when Dorinda climbs up on Pete's plane to get him to tell her that he loves her, the right engine is off but as soon as she hops down and is walking away the engine is running.

  • Continuity: Pete puts out the fire in Al's port engine and the propeller can be seen coming to a halt. In the next scene, the propeller is spinning again.

  • Continuity: When Pete sees Al for the first time after the accident, he tells him there's a bug crawling on the left side of his face. However, Al slaps the right side of his face.

  • Continuity: When Dorinda leaves the plane after she tells Pete she loves him, she can't hear him over the planes engine, but in the climax of the movie when she takes the plane out to clear a path for the smoke jumpers, they converse over the roar of the engine with only a dull yell.

  • Continuity: When Al Yackey is in the jeep, talking after inhaling helium, he's holding the balloon and driving with his right hand. The next scene shows Pete and Dorinda talking in front of the jeep and Al driving right-handed without the balloon.
