Cancer Scare For Griffith

Actress Melanie Griffith's black eye has been explained - it stems from cancer surgery.
The Working Girl star has been keen to cover up the shiner, wearing dark glasses in public - but one recent shot caught her off guard and led to speculation about how she came by the bruised face.
Now her publicist has told TMZ.com the black eye was the result of a surgical procedure to remove early stages of skin cancer from her face.
It has been a tough year for the star - in August, she checked into a rehab facility in Utah after struggling with a dependency for painkillers.
According to her husband, Antonio Banderas, the actress felt her resolve weaken after three operations on her knee following a skiing accident at the start of 2008 and feared taking the medication she was prescribed to numb the pain would tempt her back onto harder drugs.
Griffith is a recovering addict.
Banderas explained, "In March, she came to me and said, 'I'm feeling a little bit weak in my determination for this (to stay sober)... so I just thought to go to rehabilitation by myself.'"

Melanie Griffith has undergone surgery to remove the early stages of skin cancer from her face. The Working Girl star made her treatment public after she was photographed sporting a bruise under her right eye. Speculation had been mounting as to how Griffith, 52, had obtained the dark mark. Spokeswoman Robin Baum said the cancer-removing procedure had been performed early enough to prevent any further complications. Griffith, who is married to actor Antonio Banderas, is best known for her role in 1988 movie Working Girl, which won her a Golden Globe and earned her an Academy Award nomination. But the actress was also battling a drink-and-drug addiction and checked into rehab that same year.

Melanie Griffith is on the mend.
The erstwhile Working Girl is now skin cancer free after surgery this month to remove precancerous cells from her face, her rep confirms to E! News.
As a result of the operation, Griffith was left with quite the shiner—a small price to pay for a clean bill of health, but a detail that didn't escape the prying eyes of the paparazzi earlier this week.
If nothing else, the 52-year-old can chalk up the scary experience to some Method research: She's set to appear in an episode of Nip/Tuck next year.

Beautiful, Fabulous and Evil: 10 Favorite Female Villains!

This list was inspired by some of the most recent female villains portrayed on the big screen - in particular Mo'Nique, the lazy, vile and selfish mother to Gabby Sidibe's character in Precious and Cate Blanchett who played the brilliant and nasty Irina Spalko out to spoil the adventures of Indiana Jones in the latest sequel of the popular adventure series.

While some of the most memorable female villains are portrayed as ugly, unfashionable monsters, there are a good number of characters who are evil but also beautiful and fabulous. Some would even rival the female leads in terms of beauty, fashion and style thus we have this list.
Take a closer look right after the jump, I'm pretty sure, you'll agree with the names on the list...

I saw quite a bit this week, but some of it I have already detailed such as my reviews for Trucker and Tormented. I also watched the Blu-ray for Love, Actually (a personal favorite and a review is forth-coming) as well as the following three films.
The second two (The Sniper and 5 Against the House) are both from the November 3 release from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Film Noir Collection Volume One. You can get more details on the complete set right here and I hope to discuss the other three films (The Big Heat, The Lineup and Murder by Contract) next Sunday or perhaps in a complete review.
As always, remember you can keep tabs on my personal Netflix queue right here. I now have 50 friends on the movie rental site and would love to have a few more if those of you out there with accounts are interested. Now,

It's no wonder what the inspiration for this list is. Mike Judge's Extract hits theaters today, giving people another dose of the workplace humor that's become almost all too common over the past few years. Odd how record numbers of people losing their jobs continually demand the hilarious office antics on television and in movies. Oh, sweet unemployed irony.
So instead of waxing on about the reason for the list, I figured I'd simply point out two interesting things I found while making it. One, bad bosses know no gender lines. Two, despite having to clean out the rat traps every morning here at Fsr HQ and despite him making me "practice carrying his luggage for him" since he travels once a year, I don't actually have it all that bad working for Publisher-in-chief Neil Miller. Who knew.
A quick note just to cover my ass - I didn't include Darth Vader or Hitler because their

Inside Story: Melanie Griffith's Struggle with Addiction

Melanie Griffith knows all too well the challenges of getting - and staying - sober.
The actress, who underwent treatment twice for substance abuse in 1988 and 2000, checked into a rehab facility, her rep said Monday, to "reinforce her commitment to stay healthy."
Her third stint in rehab marks what has been an on-again, off-again battle with addiction for the past three decades.
Admitting she has "an addictive personality," Griffith, 52, once told Australian magazine New Idea four years after her first trip to rehab that she's "lucky to be alive. I was never as bad as some people I knew, shooting heroin and stuff.

It was confirmed by the “Working Girl” star, Melanie Griffith’s publicist today that the star had been put to rehab again. The news was first published by the Star magazine. Earlier the 52 year old star was put to the Utah's Cirque Lodge Rehab Facility, which was also a temporary home of Lindsay Lohan and Kirsten Dunst for an anti-drug treatment.
The reason for Griffith to be admitted to a rehab, as cited by her publicist, was "commitment to stay healthy". But contradicting this statement, FOXNews.com's Pop Tarts stated that the reason for this was partly because her 49 year old actor husband, Antonio Banderas, refused to take any more of her erratic behavior.
It was also reported to Po.

We suppose it's important for any Working Girl to have a steady routine.
That's apparently why Melanie Griffith is spending time in rehab once again—it's all part of the plan.
"She is there to reinforce her commitment to stay healthy," the actress's rep told PerezHilton.com Monday. "This is part of a routine plan that was designed between her and her doctors years ago."
Well, there goes our theory that being married to Antonio Banderas is the solution to everything.
Griffith, whose mom is former Hitchcock-approved icy blonde Tippi Hedren, sought treatment in 2000 at Daniel Freeman Hospital in Marina Del Rey, Calif., for an addiction to painkillers, which she
