Having watched Home and Away since the early 1990s, I have been amazed at how some young talents have been developed and have, since leaving the show, found further success in Hollywood and other places with strong entertainment industry. It is wonderful how a show can provide entertaining Australian drama at the same time as being an avenue for aspiring actors and actresses to further their skills and create more opportunities. It has also been fantastic watching Kate Ritchie as she has grown up on the show. As I started watching when i was about 6 years old, she has been somewhat of a role model for me as i have watched her character's journeys, achievements and falls.
I feel the issues covered by the story lines have been appropriate and informative for children, teenagers and adults alike. I think it is a good idea for shows like Home and Away to emphasise the importance of such issues, because they are sure to get the attention of viewers and are therefore able to educate people through somewhat exaggerated story lines which manage to get important points across.
Overall, this show has definitely strengthened over the years and always manages to evoke a mixture of emotions through its suspenseful, exciting, tragic and blissful stories.
I love this show, and wish the crew continued success for the future.
