It’s a pretty simple plot. Adorable, yes. Heartwarming? Of course? But simple nonetheless. The film we’re talking about here is 1987’s Mannequin, starring Andrew McCarthy, Kim Cattrall, and James Spader. As much as I would love to write my own clever and pun-filled synopsis, I cannot resist providing you with the user-created synopsis on IMDb. Here goes:

I’m sort of recycling this a bit, borrowing the idea and news from Cinematical, but it got me to thinking. So, first I’ll pass on the general thinking here… the bit about Ferris Bueller’S Day Off being remade isn’t a fact, or even a rumor, but rather a concept brought up during an interview by Cinematical with Matthew Broderick, who said “It would be fine” when asked how he would feel about someone remaking the 1980’s classic.
As for Mannequin, this I am disturbed to say, is apparently actually happening. Courtesy of Cinematical, Gladden Entertainment wants to remake the 1987 film, which originally starred Andrew McCarthy as a sex-obsessed department store employee who fantasizes about a window mannequin coming to life. Played by Kim Cattrall (Sex In The City), the mannequin turns out to be a reincarnated Egyptian princess. Gladden Entertainment is hoping to give the story

"When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come!" I looked and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Mannequin, and Hollywood Montrose was following close behind it."
The living mannequin Emmy might join the ranks of James Bond and Batman by having her history (which included the first film as well as Mannequin 2: On the Move) rebooted for a whole new generation. The original film stars Andrew McCarthy as a skeezy pervert who fosters an overwhelming sexual attraction to a mannequin. He's able to turn the financial fortune of a department store completely around due to his painstakingly garish window displays before the mannequin (played by Porky's Kim Catrall) comes to life and reveals herself as a reincarnated Egyptian princess and consummates their relationship on a pile of teddy bears. Meschach Taylor co-stars as a gay bonfire.

Kim Cattrall and Andrew McCarthy's quirky eighties film hit Mannequin is set to be remade.
The 1987 Michael Gottlieb film, in which Sex & The City star Cattrall played a showroom dummy who comes to life, was savaged by critics upon its release but became a cult hit.
A sequel, Mannequin 2: On The Move, came out in 1991 and has been dubbed "one of the worst follow-ups ever made".
Moviehole.net reports Gladden Entertainment bosses are "said to be in early development" on the remake with the new version featuring a lonely man who falls for a "laser display hologram".

For anyone who.s ever railed against Hollywood for remaking great movies which can.t possibly be improved, there.s this: Mannequin is getting a remake. Before you throw up in your mouth let me state my case, because this is exactly the sort of movie that really should be remade.
First the story comes from Moviehole where they say Gladden Entertainment is in early development on a redo of the 1987 Andrew McCarthy movie in which a man falls in love with a mannequin which looks like Kim Cattrall and then magically comes to life. What was it with that McCarthy dude and inanimate objects anyway? First he dated a plastic woman, then he went on vacation with a corpse in Weekend at Bernie.s. Something was up there. Can.t be a coincidence.
So even though it spawned a sequel I think we can all agree that Mannequin was

Gladden Entertainment to remake MannequinMoviehole reports that the relaunched Gladden Entertainment is in "early development" on a remake of the 1980s film Mannequin. The original movie saw Andrew McCarthy as a window dresser who falls for a mannequin (Kim Cattrall) when she mysteriously comes to life. Gladden Entertainment hopes to make the plot a little more contemporary but there is no word on where they are going to go with it. The production company is currently talking with a few studios and they are looking for a writer.

Kim Cattrall is sick of rumors suggesting she hates working under the guidance of her "Sex and the City" co-star Sarah Jessica Parker - hailing her reported rival as "a born leader". Cattrall and Parker - who is also executive producer of the hit TV series and subsequent film outings - have reportedly had a turbulent working relationship for years due to the Mannequin star's alleged jealousy of Parker's power on set.
Cattrall fuelled speculation after she took longer than her co-stars to sign up for both the first and second big screen offerings of the comedy. Parker recently took a stand against the reports, stating: "I don't think anybody wants to believe that I love Kim. I adore her. I wouldn't have done the movie without her."
And Cattrall has now backed her up, telling Britain's Mail on Sunday, "I think Sarah was right - people don't want to believe that we get on.

They have too much invested in the idea of two strong, successful women fighting with each other. It makes for juicy gossip and copy. The truth of us being friends and getting along and happily doing our jobs together is nowhere near as newsworthy. I think Sarah is fantastic. She is a born leader and she guides the crew and the cast in such a strong and gentle way. She and I are sick of this. It's exhausting talking about it, and a real bore. Next?"
