The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

No sex or nudity is shown on screen or referred to in dialog, only some very mild visual innuendo - a car is seen rocking back and forth suggestively, but the motion is soon shown to be caused by an injured character having a seizure.

Violence & Gore

Humorous but gratuitous violence and gore throughout. The gore is deliberately very cartoonish and unrealistic, and is played more for slapstick, gross-out laughs than for horrific effect. The body count in the film is very high, but most of the more extreme violence is directed at the sadistic alien invaders.

A man's head is partially blown off by a revolver, we see brain matter splatter on some rocks and then a close up of his shattered skull spurting blood before he collapses. Another invader is later seen using a spoon to eat brains from his dead comrade's skull. A man is captured and interrogated under torture. Numerous characters are killed in shootouts, including some shots of blood-spurting bullet wounds. A man drives the barrel of a gun through a dead character's torso and uses the body as a 'human' shield. An alien's head is torn off while still in human form and the spinal column flails around like a tentacle. A man has a machete embedded in his skull. An alien creature has its head sawn in half. A character falls off a cliff and is badly injured, causing bits of brain to occasionally fall from a wound in his skull (he survives). A sheep is accidentally blown up by a missile. A hideous alien is horrifically and comically disemboweled and mutilated by a falling man with a chainsaw. An alien is beaten unconscious in a fist fight. Another has his throat slit, etc. etc.

Profanity

Frequent use of moderately strong language throughout, including scatological terms (e.g. "shit"), as well as numerous anatomical, derogatory and sexual epithets ("dick-head", "bastard", "wanker", etc.). However, the strongest sexual terms, such as the f-word and it's derivatives, are not heard in the film.

Little to no smoking or drinking. No drugs references.

"Bad Taste" is a deliberate reference to the film's content. Although the violence is deliberately unrealistic and the tone is generally quite lighthearted, there are a few scenes of very dark comedy which are quite frightening, intense or offensive, rendering the movie unsuitable for younger children or those of a particularly sensitive disposition.

There are jokes about cannibalism, mutilation, epilepsy and mental illness (a "retarded" alien). There are also some non-violent gross-out visual gags, including a scene where an undercover human character finds himself having to drink alien vomit to prevent his cover being blown.

There is nothing in the film, however, that could reasonably be considered too mature for most teenagers, in fact its deliberate immaturity is likely to appeal to males in the 12-18 age bracket.
