Originally, Marion Bennett (Who plays My Melody) was suppose to play Tara Strong's role, but by the time production on the series started, the voice director(s) felt it was best if Bennett and Strong swap roles. This was brought up by Strong when she appeared on the Nickelodeon Animation podcast.
MGM released five volumes on DVD:

- Hello Kitty Plays Pretend (Contains the episodes: The Phantom of the Theater, Frankencat, Catula, The Pawed Piper, Rumpeldogskin)
- Hello Kitty Tells Fairy Tales (Contains the episodes: Robin Penguin, Hello Mother Goose, The Ugly Quackling, Pinocchio Penguin, Little Red Bunny Hood)
