Trivia:
In the original script, Rosalie, the woman in the wheelchair at Peggy Sue's high school reunion, was a gymnast who was crippled in an accident. In the original script, Peggy Sue tried to take advantage of her knowledge of the future. She invented pantyhose, encouraged people to invest in Xerox, and tried to prevent Rosalie from hurting herself. moreGoofs:
Anachronisms: The Bose speakers at the "teen make-out dance party" didn't exist in 1960. Bose Corporation was founded in 1964. The distinctively shaped Bose 901 "Direct/Reflecting" speakers on shelves on the wall (above Charlie and his singing group) first appeared in 1968. moreQuotes:
Mother: Peggy, I don't mean to be intrusive, but are you having problems with Charlie?Peggy Sue: A lot of things are confusing right now, Charlie is just one of them.
Mother: Is Charlie pressuring you into doing things you don't think you should be doing?
Peggy Sue: What do you mean?
Mother: Peggy, you know what a penis is? Stay away from it!

This movie has a lot going for it. First, there's a superb acting by both Turner and Cage. Both embody the 60s. The cars, settings and attitudes are fully representative of the era and bring back memories of a seemingly simpler time. But, in this movie, things are complicated by the culture of a later period. I found this movie enjoyable and thought-provoking. It is fun, also, to see Jim Carrey in what must have been his first (or nearly so) role. The mannerisms and cartoonish characteristics that would make him a super-star are evident. In this movie there is character, with one theme about how people treat others, especially thoise of us with personality or other challenges. Good stuff.
