• Continuity: Preparing for his study date with Alison, Gib tucks his shirt in twice.
  
  
• Continuity: The color of the car they are traveling in.
  
  
• Continuity: When the bike Cop stops the car, Alison gets out of the back door twice.
  
  

• Continuity: When Gary is driving after the first night in the hotel he is on the left-hand side of the road. In the next shot he is back on the right.
  
  
• Continuity: When Gib teaches Alison to shotgun a beer his pants become soaked with beer but when he leaves the room they are completely dry.
  
  
• Continuity: While in the blue car they are supposed to be driving west to California yet at the end of the first day there is a shot of the car coming toward the camera with the sun setting behind it which means the car was driving east.
  
  
• Continuity: After Gary throws them out of the car, Gib jumps onto the car and slides off onto the street. THe next time we see him, he is sitting on another place, some 50 meters back, clearly visible by the skid marks on the street.
  
  
• Errors in geography: The trees and the grass are too green in the Midwest for a trip that is supposed to take place in the middle of winter.
  
  
• Factual errors: Gib takes a bite out of pink Sno-Ball snack cake while riding in the car. The film is supposed to be set during the Christmas Break. In the mid 1980's, pink Sno-Balls were only available during Valentine's Day.
  
  
• Errors in geography: During the swimming pool scene, as the camera pans following Alison swim, the upper right hand window reveals the top of a palm tree. Very odd for the Midwest setting.
  
  
• Continuity: When Gib passes out on the bed, a beer can magically appears next to his leg.
  
  
• Continuity: When Gary pays the ticket, the weather and sky change several times.
  
  
• Continuity: When Lance (Edwards) calls up Gib (Cusack), to tell him to come to California, he is told to look at the photo of the girl in the string bikini. In the classroom, when Gib is looking at the photo, there is some writing on the back. When Gib is looking at it in his college dorm, the writing is clearly gone.
