Brittany Murphy's Uso Tour Appearance, 'Avatar' In 3D And 'Toy Story 3' Finished In Today's Twitter-Wood

22 December 2009 3:30 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Brittany Murphy and "Avatar" look poised to dominated Twitter-Wood's thoughts this holiday week, even if most of the tweeters are leaving their offices to tweet from home and last-minute shopping expeditions right now. Alyssa Milano retweeted a photo taken when she and Murphy appeared on a Uso tour together, reflecting on the time they spent there. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Banks, Samm Levine and David Spade all had different reactions to "Avatar" in 3D.

You can sort out what they had to say after the jump along with a former "Saved By the Bell" star's denial of drunken behavior, Kevin Smith's response to a tweeter about his wife's Playboy photos and former Karate Kid Ralph Macchio on whether or not he plans on coming back to "Ugly Betty." It's all retweeted in the Twitter-Wood report for December 22, 2009.

Brittany Murphy, East Coast Snow And A Zombie Hand In Today's Twitter-Wood

21 December 2009 3:30 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

This has been a bad holiday season for untimely deaths around Hollywood, and none have been more unexpected than actress Brittany Murphy's on Sunday. Alyssa Milano, Peter Facinelli, Paris Hilton and virtually everyone else with a Twitter account associated with the entertainment industry has something to say about Murphy, and there's a rundown below.

The other big nationwide news of the past weekend has been the massive snowstorm pounding the East Coast. "Twilight" actress Christian Serratos was one of those who had her travel plans derailed by the frozen precipitation dump, on Washington, D.C. You can find those posts after jump along with Fred Durst's "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" clan name and Neil Gaiman's undead lawn ornament. It's in the Twitter-Wood report for December 21, 2009. Brittany Murphy Tweets From Peter Facinelli, Paris Hilton And Others In Another Twitter-Wood Early Edition

21 December 2009 2:00 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Earlier today, we brought you an early edition of Twitter-Wood packed chock-full of celebrity praise for James Cameron's sci-fi epic, "Avatar." It's a much more tragic set of circumstances that brings me back to you with another Twitter-Wood early edition.

"Clueless" star Brittany Murphy left us suddenly over the weekend, the victim of a heart attack at the too-young age of 32. The breaking news resulted in an outpouring of grief and sympathy for Murphy's family from around the celebrity Twittersphere. I'll let the people who knew her take it from here...

@ParisHilton So sad to hear about Brittany Murphy, such a tragedy. She was such a beautiful, funny and sweet girl. My heart goes out to her family.

-Paris Hilton, Actress ("The Hottie and the Nottie," "House of Wax")

@peterfacinelli Brittany Murphy... U were Bold, Brave, and Beautiful. Thank you 4 being the free spirit u were, and always »

2nd Joel Silver Interview Ninja Assassin. Plus Info on Dark Castle Projects, Remakes, Sherlock Holmes, More

24 November 2009 8:49 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

At last weekend’s press junket for Ninja Assassin, I had the opportunity to speak with producer Joel Silver twice.  The first time was an exclusive TV interview, and the second time was during a roundtable interview the following day.  While I normally would be happy to use just one of the interviews, since Joel Silver is producing so many high profile projects (Lobo, Sgt. Rock, The Apparition), I knew getting to speak with him twice would be a good thing.

Also, what a lot of people don’t realize is how much info a producer can tell you.  While it’s always great to talk with an actor, unless you’re a Brad Pitt, most actors don’t have that much juice to get a project made.  So that’s why getting to speak with Joel Silver is so great, because not only can he talk about all his projects that are getting made, »

Top Editors Brought In to Re-Cut The Wolfman

18 November 2009 9:47 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Of all the big films on the docket for next year, the one I’m most concerned about is The Wolfman. The second trailer for the film looked pretty badass, I’ll admit – but this movie has suffered a plagued production from the get-go. A change in directors, callbacks for reshoots and re-designs in the creature effects… It all points to a studio trying to turn lead into gold through the usual movie alchemy.

Well, the guys over at Slash Film must have magnifying glass eyes, because they spotted something deep-six buried in an article over at Variety, which names editors Mark Goldblatt and Walter Murch as the two guys hired to do a recut of The Wolfman!

This revelation comes without the usual fanfare from the blogosphere that goes with every little development on a major movie – suggesting that the studio is trying to keep the continuing problems with »

Michael Jackson's Run In With Tyrese Gibson And The Real 'Spider-Man 4' Villain In Today's Twitter-Wood

28 October 2009 7:43 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

The Twitter-Wood feed assembled after the jump is the fine work of Mr. Brian Warmoth, but he seems to have disappeared before finishing the evening's intro bump. So you're stuck with me, @geminibros, your friendly neighborhood MTV Movies Blog editor.

I may not have Brian's panache, but I can still fill you in on what's shaking in the Twitter-Wood today. Rob Zombie just wrapped up the audio commentary for the director's cut of "Halloween II," "Harry Potter" star Tom Felton decided on his Halloween costume -- I wholeheartedly approve -- and "Shaun of the Dead" writer/director Edgar Wright saw the Coen brothers' new one, "A Serious Man." I wholeheartedly approve of that as well. Meanwhile, Brian Lynch has the real scoop on the next "Spider-Man" villain and Sarah Silverman shares a downright baffling twitpic. Also, Tyrese Gibson shares his very special moment with Michael Jackson, clinching himself the top »

The Balloon Boy, 'New Moon' In Rome And Wolf T-Shirts In Today's Twitter-Wood

15 October 2009 8:09 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

As the search for Falcon Heene, the six-year-old boy feared to have been trapped in a runaway Colorado balloon, continues today, the story has more or less less consumed the Twittersphere. Twitter-Wood hasn't been immune to that effect with Alyssa Milano, Simon Pegg and plenty of others posting about the unresolved scenario.

On the flipside of the Twitterverse, cast members of "New Moon" have been swapping tweets in anticipation of the movie's scene screenings at next week's Rome Film Festival. Check out who's been talking to whom, along with Rainn Wilson's new wolf T-shirt, Tom Felton's metal T-shirt and what's been going on in Diablo Cody's dreams. Edward Norton's Marathon, Paris Hilton's Halloween Costume And Juggalo Culture In Today's Twitter-Wood

29 September 2009 3:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

The Fall season always means two things -- it's time to wrap up marathon training and start planning Halloween costumes. Edward Norton and Paris Hilton are on top of those tasks, respectively. Norton's planning on running with some Kenyans in New York on November 1st, while Paris is hard a work costume hunting, but you'll have click on down to see where she's shopping.

Also today, Alyssa Milano emphatically denied that she is pregnant, so rumor-mongers back off. Read on to check out what she said, as well as where John Hodgman has been reading about Juggalos, what the weather is like on the "Eclipse" set and what Paul Reubens would have looked like in your high school yearbook. Chopping Block: Megadeth, Dethklok, Austrian Death Machine

24 September 2009 2:06 AM, PDT | Fangoria | See recent Fangoria news »

In each Fangoria Musick Chopping Block, we'll be taking a look at a trio of recent releases.

In this installment, Fango grabs the latest releases from Megadeth, Dethklok, and Austrian Death Machine - three flavors of death, and two having fictional frontmen. It's the Deth Edition...

Megadeth - Endgame

Roadrunner Records

Back in 1993, Megadeth's Dave Mustaine was the second interview I'd ever conducted. Only 16 at the time and sporting a horrible Iowa-style metalhead mullet, taking a seat next to Dave was a huge deal. One thing that was clear to me even in my youth was that there's two types of metal fans: one's that like Megadeth, and one's that don't. The very traits that draw some listeners into the fold are the same that drive others away. Megadeth is a unique thrash-metal beast.

While the late '90's and early 2000's were not kind to the band (lineup changes, »

Movie News Wrap Up: June 14, 2009

14 June 2009 6:42 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

This week:

The box office has a severe Hangover; Vertigo tries to find the real Exorcist; Ed Neumeier talks RoboCop; Angelina Jolie is Wanted; Megan Fox is a Vampire Slayer and Dwayne Johnson goes Commando.

Box office

The Hangover was a holdover this week in the number 1 position. The R-rated comedy should bank another $33 million over the weekend to bring the total of the film up to $100 million after one week on release. With a sequel already in development it looks like this is a new lucrative franchise for Warner Bros - one that doesn’t involve costly special effects. Up held onto the runner-up spot with a weekend take of about $30 million showing that people just love Pixar movies.

Tony Scott’s The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 arrived at number 3 this weekend with a gross of $25 million. The Denzel Washingtion/ John Travolta starrer faced some hefty competition but its opening »

Rumor Mill: The Rock’s Commando Remake? Megan Fox: Vampire Slayer? Bond 23 in Afghanistan?

10 June 2009 2:10 AM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

A couple rumors are circulating the interwebs this week, so I thought I'd put together a small round-up. First up, JoBlo caught wind of an article in the Australian magazine Rci that claims a remake of the 1980's Arnold Schwarzenegger action classic Commando is being developed.  Another site, Cinefools, has also heard rumblings of a Commando reboot, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson rumored to star. Hollywood is rebooting all the other Schwarzenegger action films (Predator, Total Recall..etc) so why not Commando? And The Rock has long been compared as the Arnold of the next generation. Some might recall a mini "passing of the torch" in The Rundown. Mark this rumor as possible. UK Newspaper The Guardian speculates that the 23rd James Bond film will feature "the poppy fields and drug barons of [Afghanistan]." Apparently the screenwriters of the next Bond adventure sought technical advice from the British embassy in Kabul, »

Dwayne Johnson Sizing Up for Commando Remake?

Cinefools heard through the grape vine that the Commando remake that was rumoured last week here is in fact happening. And even though it's in early development, rumors are circulating that Dwayne Johnson is being considered to fill Arnold Schwarzenegger's shoes. Well, he might just be bad-ass enough!

But wait, who should take the daughter's role? The original being one that belonged to a young Alyssa Milano?

Arnold Schwarzenegger's Commando Being Remade

4 June 2009 8:00 AM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

When Arnold Schwarzenegger leaves the Governor's mansion, he could easily return to Hollywood since most of his old movies are currently being remade. First there was the new "Terminator" franchise, then "Predator," then "Total Recall" and now "Commando." JoBlo is reporting that Australian magazine called Rci is claiming that "Commando" is being considered for a remake. Not much more information is given, but the site has confirmed "whispers" at 20th Century Fox about moving forward with a new film. The original 1985 movie revolves around a retired elite commando (Schwarzenegger), who has only a few hours to find and rescue his daughter (Alyssa Milano) from an exiled dictator. This wouldn't be the first time that "Commando" would be remade, Russia made their own copy last year. Check out the trailer for it below. Russian "Commando" Trailer: »

Commando Remake in Development?

4 June 2009 6:31 AM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Just yesterday we posted an update on the previously announced remake of Total Recall [1], and one of the reasons why I questioned the feasibility of this particular remake is that the original was largely built around the appeal and star power of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Well, it looks like yet another Schwarzenegger film is up for a possible redo as well: the 1985 action flick Commando. According to JoBlo [2], an article in an Australian magazine called Rci claims that a Commando remake is currently in development. There are no further details to be had at this time (and in fact, I haven't even been able to verify that this magazine exists) so I would definitely take it with a grain of salt. At this rate, however, I wouldn't be surprised if every single Schwarzenegger flick had been remade by the time he gets out of office! At least the Terminator, Conan and »

Commando to Be Remade as Well?

4 June 2009 6:14 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

The remake train keeps chugging along, with rumors swirling that an Arnold Schwarzenegger 80s classic is set to reboot. JoBlo was pointed to a piece in an Australian magazine named Rci that indicated Commando was in line for a remake.

The site also checked with its own sources who also have, "heard whispers" of this remake of the Arnold Schwarzenegger action film. The source also indicated that the idea for the reboot had been brewing for some time now.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any and all updated surrounding this possible remake as soon as we have more information.

Next on the Remake Chopping Block: Commando?

3 June 2009 9:34 PM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

I know what you’re thinking: “A remake of ‘Commando?’ Bull! Why would anyone remake a brainless action movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger from 1985?” Um, why would they remake “A Nightmare on Elm Street” or “Red Dawn” from 1984, or “Conan” from 1982? The real question isn’t why they’re remaking “Commando”, it’s why wouldn’t they remake “Commando”? At this point, one movie from the ’80s is as good as another, so trying to make sense of why Hollywood chooses to remake one movie and not others is kind of pointless. Having said that, there are rumors that a remake of “Commando” is on the horizon. The news comes from Joblo.com, who wouldn’t necessarily say they’ve confirmed the remake rumors, but that they do know someone who has “heard whispers” of said remake ambitions. Why just whispers? Probably because if you went around telling people out loud »

Schwarzenegger's 'Commando' Getting Remake

3 June 2009 9:20 PM, PDT | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

It's been speculated, including by the California Governor himself, that once Arnold Schwarzenegger leaves his political office in Sacramento, that he may return to motion pictures. It makes sense, particularly given that all the franchises that enabled him to rise to prominence, financial independence, and yes, political aspiration, are getting remade, rebooted or continued: Terminator, Predator, Total Recall...and now, Commando (yeah, we know...but don't shoot the messenger, folks, Ok?).

JoBlo is reporting that Australian magazine Rci has made the claim that Schwarzenegger's take on 'Rambo' is being considered for a remake. Not much info beyond that is given, but the site has confirmed "whispers" at 20th Century Fox about moving forward with a new film.
