- Audio/visual unsynchronized: When they first veer off-road to avoid an enemy roadblock, Jed's truck tires squeal as he comes to a stop on a grassy hill.
- Crew or equipment visible: When Cuban paratroopers launch a rocket-propelled grenade into the school bus, a special effects guide wire is visible.
- Continuity: After the Colonel's 45 is emptied while standing on top of the tank, it continues to fire after the slide has locked back.
- Revealing mistakes: During the attack after the Cuban Colonel is writing to his sweetheart, a soldier is shot behind some sandbags in front of a brick wall. His blood appears on the wall seconds before he is hit.
- Continuity: When Jed shoots Strelnikov, Strelnikov drops his gun. A quick camera cut shows Strelnikov falling to his knees with the gun still in his hand.
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Robert is sawing the barrel off his shotgun, the sound does not match his motion.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Colonel Bella's subordinate always addresses him with "Si, Senor." In the Cuban army, he would call his superior officer "Mi Coronel."
- Factual errors: The Russians track the partisans with some sort of electronic beeping box, which is supposed to be a radio direction finder. In closeups, it's an impedance (AC resistance) meter. There are two dials and a label that says "X=(up) x (down) (omega)", which means "impedance is lower dial times upper dial in ohms". Even if the meter had anything to do with radio, twisty wire between the terminals would be useless as an RDF antenna.
- Miscellaneous: In the scene where Strelnikov and his special forces soldiers are parading down the street, the belt of the soldier behind the drummer on the far right breaks off.
- Factual errors: Soviet tankers wore black berets. Blue berets were worn by the VDV.
- Crew or equipment visible: During the shootup of the armored convoy, Jed tells Matt "Matt, RPG" and when Matt fires the rocket, the SFX guide wire is clearly outlined in the sunlight, leading to the intended target.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: While it's true that, towards the beginning of the movie, right after the invasion, you see the dead man laying behind his truck. If you look, you will see a pool of blood and two empty shell casings from his Colt 1911A1. When the Russian paratrooper picks up the pistol, the hammer is in the fired position and the slide is locked forward. If he had fired this pistol, the hammer would either be back, ready to fire or the slide would be locked back denoting the pistol is empty, but it is very possible that when the gun was fired, the primer failed to ignite (a dud), and would account for a hammer dropped and the slide engaged.
- Crew or equipment visible: After the attack on the Soviet's regional headquarters near the end of the film, Jed carries a fatally wounded Matt through a snow covered playground, during which to the left of both of them, a shadow of another person on the snow covered ground - possibly a crew member - can be seen walking ahead of them.
>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<
Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.
- Continuity: SPOILER: Gunfire from a Russian chopper tears open the front of 'Jennifer Grey (I)''s jacket. In the next shot, the jacket is undamaged, and she receives the same mortal wound.
- Incorrectly regarded as goofs: SPOILER: As the scene opens Jed is carving names on Partisan Rock. As he steps away to prepare for the final battle you can see that he has added both his name AND the name of his brother Matt Eckert (Charlie Sheen) to the names of those lost. He knows it is a suicide mission and does not expect either of them to survive.
