- Revealing mistakes: Obvious fake rock that Superman steps off after being hit by the missile.
- Miscellaneous: When Superman has returned Ricky to Lana after hitting his head on the rock in the wheat field, Lana wipes the blood off his face with her white sweater. In the next scene, the sweater is spotless.
- Revealing mistakes: Superman's flying wires are visible at several points, including: when (evil) Superman flies into the auto junkyard; when Superman lands on top of the Statue of Liberty; at the chemical plant fire; when he is saving Ricky, Lana Lang's son.
- Revealing mistakes: When (evil) Superman smashes into the side of the oil tanker, you can see that his legs are flying all over the place.
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Gus is attempting to gain access to the computer facility by showing the security guard a case full of spirits, the reflection in the door of Gus does not match what is being said.
- Continuity: In one of the Smallville scenes (shot in Calgary, Canada) the logo of a Canadian bank is clearly visible in the background.
- Revealing mistakes: Most of the lines of Gus' fantastic BASIC program in his computer class are empty PRINT statements.
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: During part of the subway sequence (after the Ultimate Computer drains Metropolis's power), you can hear Ricky speaking, but his lips aren't moving.
- Factual errors: Superman "straightens" the leaning tower of Pisa and later puts it back to how it was. This is impossible since during the construction of the tower, the builders realized that it was leaning and changed the angle of construction for the remaining sections. Even if it were possible to straighten the tower, the end result would not be a vertically straight tower but a curved one.
- Continuity: As the Ultimate Computer starts taking over Vera's body she is not wearing gloves but after Superman destroys the computer when Vera wakes up she is wearing white gloves.
- Plot holes: Superman has trouble breathing inside the "bubble" the supercomputer covers him with, but he can still fly in space.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): At the end of the movie when Lois returns from vacation in Bermuda, Perry said that only she could get a story about "Corruption in the Caribbean". Bermuda isn't in the Caribbean.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Gus is first taking over the weather satellite, as he breaks in, the computer responds that it is ready to "recieve" instructions.
- Revealing mistakes: When Gus has the skis on in the scene on the roof, he is wearing leather shoes. When he is smashing through the railing, he has ski boots on. He has ski boots on again on the angled glass ceiling and then regular leather shoes again when he lands on the street.
- Errors in geography: At approx. 49min 50sec of the film, when Gus programs the Vulcano Satellite, he enters the coordinates of Colombia 75ºW 5ºS. These coordinates correspond to Peru. Colombia is more like 75ºW 4ºN.
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Near the end of the movie, when Gus is telling the coal mine workers about his relationship with Superman, he mimics Superman opening his jacket to reveal the suit underneath, but nobody would know about this action, as Superman's alter ego is a secret.
- Revealing mistakes: In the Junk yard fight scene, Superman kicks Clark Kent, who's on his knees, in the face. Clark falls to the ground unconscious. Then in the next frame, shot from a distance, Superman picks Clark up in his arms and the stuntman/actor playing Clark noticeably grabs on to Superman's back to help himself up. At the same time, 'Superman' is visibly struggling to pick 'Clark' up.
- Continuity: During the opening credits, we can clearly see mustard on Jimmy's left lapel, later on in Perry Whites office it has moved to his right lapel.
- Errors in geography: Film is set in America, yet the spellings defence, colour, and unauthorised appear in the movie, revealing it was filmed outside the country.
- Revealing mistakes: After the "Good" Superman/Clark Kent strangles the "Evil" Superman and he opens his shirt to reveal his costume, if you look at his tie, it was obviously pre-cut on the left side to make the opening of the shirt easier.
- Plot holes: When Gus shows Ross and the others his plans for the Super Computer, all he has are a bunch of crude drawings of his computer and he only has a general idea of what he wants to do with it (defense capabilities and so forth). Even when the construction workers are assembling the computer, they only have the crude drawings to work with, yet when Ross and the others reach the computer, they instantly know exactly how the whole thing works (what buttons to push, etc.)
- Crew or equipment visible: Towards the end of the film when Superman is in the cave, he is encapsulated in an "invisible shield" bubble. The wires holding the bubble off of the ground are clearly visible in numerous shots.
- Errors in geography: When Gus attempts to access the Smallville computer, the spelling indicates the scene was shot in England. The sign reads: OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS TWO KEYS REQUIRED TO OPERATE KEY A IN STATION No. 1 KEY B IN STATION No. 2 IMPORTANT BOTH KEYS MUST BE INSERTED AT THE SAME TIME NO UNAUTHOURISED PERSON TO USE THIS MACHINE
- Revealing mistakes: When Lorelei gets zapped up to the wall of the Computer Cave, you can see she has a silver ball attached to her waist, which she pushes on when she's trying to escape (the animated energy zaps don't cover up the ball very well).
- Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): At Clark's high school reunion, the song Roll Over Beethoven (covered by the Beatles) is playing. This version of the song didn't come out until 1963, and Clark attended high school in the 50s.
- Revealing mistakes: The oil tanker British Reliance is obvious sailing in ballast (empty) in transit to Metropolis since its hull is high above the sea level. If the tanker was fully loaded whit crude oil, the gray paint would not be visible on the hull.
>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<
Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.
- Plot holes: SPOILER: When Superman becomes good again at the junkyard, he flies straight to Webster's Roof terrace and is greeted by a video message from Vera Webster who says: 'So you've finally shown you're true colours', referring to the evil side of Superman. She goes on to invite him to 'drop in' where they are currently with the super computer, with the intention to kill him, as demonstrated by Ross Webster when he starts firing the rockets via the video game. They had no idea he had just returned to normal and as Ross Webster had said earlier, 'Superman's out of the nice guy business', so why try to kill him? They had not mentioned at any point they intended to kill him even if he's evil.
