Albert Pyun and company have released three more “rough cut” clips from their upcoming “Tales of an Ancient Empire” swords and sorcery movie. The film stars Kevin Sorbo, Christopher Lambert, Melissa Ordway, Whitney Able, Jennifer Siebel-Newsom and Lee Horsley (who was also in Pyun’s “The Sword and the Sorcerer”). And hey, fans of Pyun’s “Nemesis” (and really, who isn’t?), Olivier Gruner also shows up in a cameo. The sword and sorcery epic tells the story of a princess forced on a quest to recruit the greatest warriors of the ancient world to save her kingdom from a demonic sorceress. But the odyssey to find them reveals a secret past for all. Look for it in 2010. Clip: Family Clip: Xia’s Tomb Clip: Catacombs »

Updates on three different projects have come in over the weekend via Twitter, and rather than do separate stories on each, we've got them all right here ... down & dirty, quick & easy ... just how we know you like it!
Last week we noticed a few stories pop up regarding the possibility of Scream 4 being in 3D. Not having any confirmation, we waited to hear more, which everyone did when Scream writer Kevin Williamson debunked the rumor as follows: "What is this Scream 4 in 3D? First I heard of it." Then, an hour later came, "Guys? Really? 3D? Nahhhhh." Hopefully he won't be pressured into changing his tune. We have enough 3D projects floating around out there already, right?
Dread Central has been following the progress of Tales of an Ancient Empire, Albert Pyun's unofficial follow-up to The Sword and the Sorcerer, for a while now; and Pyun is »

I’m sure there are fans of Albert Pyun’s cheesy 1982 fantasy epic “The Sword and the Sorcerer” somewhere out there, but I’m not one of them. Admittedly, it’s been several long years since I’ve had the opportunity to sit down with the movie, and my tastes have changed radically since I was 10. According to Twitch, Pyun and “Hercules” star Kevin Sorbo are preparing to unleash the sequel, “Tales of an Ancient Empire,” on a world that may not be as receptive to this sort of SyFy Channel tomfoolery as they were back in the 80’s. Sure, “The Sword and the Sorcerer” has a loyal cult following and, yes, fantasy movies are a pretty easy sell these days, but is a follow-up really necessary? Can Pyun recapture the campy magic of the original film? Who knows. More importantly, I’m not sure that I really care. Hey, »

The updates from Albert Pyun’s sequel to classic 80s fantasy film The Sword And The Sorcerer were coming fast and furious for a little while there and while it’s been a little while since we’ve heard from the set they’re back today with some fresh images, including what must be one of the more anticipated ones. No, it’s not a Christopher Lambert sighting - the Highlander star is apparently scheduled for the end of the shoot - but it Is Lee Horsley, the star of the original film reprising his character here as he passes the torch, as it were, on to the star of this new adventure. You can check all the images at the link below!

[Updated with another piece of promo art]
We first brought news of the impending sequel to classic 80s fantasy flick The Sword And The Sorcerer back in April and while production was delayed some by this past year’s labor uncertainty and while the cast has undergone some slight alterations things are now up and running, with principal photography now freshly begun. Here’s how director Albert Pyun first described the project to us: “It’s got a sexy sorceress, hordes of demonic vampires, a giant serpent, sea pirates, nasty sword (and axe, spear, leg of cow) fights and gore and nudity galore. Everything that a rousing adventure needs to have.”
Though the project has changed some since it began life as a direct sequel to Pyun’s The Sword And The Sorcerer there are still direct links between the two films. Starring? Here are the notables: Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) and Christopher Lambert (The Highlander) are the male leads, »
