Since MCU’s Eternals, Angelina Jolie has remained out of the public spotlight until recently, as she joined her youngest daughter at the red carpet premiere of her Broadway show. Vivienne, 15, whom she shares with ex-husband Brad Pitt, known for starring alongside her mother in 2014’s Maleficent, joined forces with Jolie in the new stage adaptation of S. E. Hinton’s The Outsiders.
The Oscar winner recalled that Vivienne, who worked as an assistant on the stage adaptation, was pretty committed to her job, and didn’t shy away from schooling Jolie on several instances.

With his long hair, sunglasses and bellbottoms, Hal Ashby was the epitome of the 1970s flower child, even though he was a decade older than most of the filmmakers working at the time. Though his flame burned brightly and briefly, he left behind a series of classics that signified the nose-thumbing, countercultural attitude of the era, with a bit of humanism and heart thrown in for good measure. Let’s take a look back at all 12 of his films, ranked worst to best.
Born on September 2, 1929 in Utah, Ashby ambled around before becoming an apprentice editor for Robert Swink, working for Hollywood legends William Wyler and George Stevens. He moved up the ranks to become an editor for Norman Jewison, with whom he shared a fraternal and professional relationship. They cut five films together, including “The Russians Are Coming! Angelina Jolie has become one of Hollywood’s most prominent actors thanks to her expansive filmography.
And although some would like to be in Jolie’s position, Jolie had to make certain sacrifices as an actor that she didn’t enjoy.

Jolie has been making a name for herself in the film industry from an early age. She made her film debut as a child in the feature Lookin’ to Get Out, and has been a fixture in Hollywood since.

Acting was never Angelina Jolie's end goal. As the daughter of Marcheline Bertrand and Jon Voight, the now 43-year-old movie star made her onscreen debut at age 7, opposite her father in the 1982 comedy Lookin' to Get Out. Eleven years later, Jolie landed her first leading role in the direct-to-video sci-fi flick Cyborg 2. Film roles in Hackers and Love Is All There Is followed, but her big break came in 1997 when she earned an Emmy nomination for her supporting role in George Wallace. In 1998, she won an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a SAG Award for her portrayal of the late model Gia Carangi in Gia. Jolie's turn as a sociopathic mental patient in 1999's Girl, Interrupted made her a bonafide movie...

Unlike some stars, Angelina Jolie doesn't mind tabloid attention. In fact, the star of Universal Pictures' By the Sea tells WSJ. Magazine's Innovators Issue, "You just have to look at whether or not you can still be effective with what you want to do. And if anything gets in the way of that, then you have a problem. But I don't." That's not to say she enjoys it, either. Long before she made a name for herself in Hollywood, Jolie was accustomed to life in the limelight. The daughter of actors Jon Voight and the late Marcheline Bertrand, Jolie followed in her parents' footsteps when she made her onscreen debut alongside her father in the 1982 comedy Lookin' to Get Out. It's hard to believe Angelina Jolie has been a fixture of Hollywood for almost 20 years now.
Ever since breaking out in the late '90s with a string of critically-acclaimed performances, the actress quickly established herself as an international star. Between headlining hits like "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and directing passion projects like "In the Land of Blood and Honey," Jolie is perhaps the biggest Hollywood spokesperson of humanitarian efforts worldwide. This summer, however, Jolie can be seen taking a wicked turn in Disney's "Maleficent" -- a re-imagining of "Sleeping Beauty" from the villain's point-of-view.
From her Oscar-winning godfather to her curiosity with blood, here are 33 things you probably don't know about Angelina Jolie.
1. Jolie was born June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles to Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, both actors.
2. The actress was born Angelina Jolie Voight, but she legally dropped her surname "Voight" in 2002.
3. She is the goddaughter of actress Jacqueline Bisset and actor Maximilian Schell.

Actor reveals he was ignorant of his daughter's decision but was deeply moved by her handling of the situation
Angelina Jolie's father, actor Jon Voight, has revealed that he was kept in the dark over his daughter's plan to have a double mastectomy, and only learned about it at the same time as the rest of the world.
Voight told the New York Daily News: "I was as surprised as anyone and deeply moved by the way she's handled this."
Jolie announced she had undergone the medical procedure in an op-ed piece in the New York Times on 14 May, but Voight explained he had no prior knowledge. "I saw her two days ago with my son Jamie. We all got together for his birthday, with her and Brad [Pitt]. But I didn't know. It wasn't obvious at all."
He also said he "completely understood" her reasons for not informing him.

Warner Home Video continues to earn the gratitude of movie fans by releasing special editions of films that had limited commercial appeal. The latest example is director Hal Ashby's Lookin' to Get Out, a 1982 comedy that was a notorious box-office disaster - and one that virtually ruined Ashby's career. Like fellow gadfly director Sam Peckinpah, Ashby could be a temperamental personality who prided himself on clashing with studios over issues of artistic integrity. His acclaimed hits include Coming Home, Being There and Shampoo, but -like Peckinpah- he wore out his welcome with his employers and was relegated to filming "by the numbers" movies in return for a paycheck. There has been a renaissance of interest in Ashby's career of late, so hopefully this director's cut of Lookin' to Get Out will find an appreciative audience.

Acting must really run in Angelina Jolie's family blood.
When she was just seven years old, she got her first big screen role in her dad Jon Voight's "Lookin' To Get Out," and now her daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt is all set for her Hollywood debut at the tender age of four.
Yep, Walt Disney Studios confirmed today that Vivienne Jolie-Pitt (Knox's twin and one of Angelina's six children with fiancé Brad Pitt) will have a cameo in Jolie's "Maleficient," the movie she's currently filming about the backstory of the titular "Sleeping Beauty" villain.
Jolie-Pitt will portray a young version of Princess Aurora (the elder of which will be played by Elle Fanning) in the picture, presumably opposite India Eisley who's bringing to life a young Maleficent.
Both mom Jolie and grandpa Voight have earned Academy Awards, so is this the beginning of an illustrious career for little Vivienne?...

Angelina Jolie can't go anywhere without paparazzi hounding her children, but just this once, how about we take a look at the superstar actress when she herself was a little kid.
Before she was kicking tail as Lara Croft, winning Oscars and directing her own films, Angelina Jolie was a six year old girl with a famous daddy. And while she's clearly made it in Hollywood on the strength of her own talent, she did get her first role in the film industry thanks to that great bloodline.
Jolie stole the show in a brief appearance in dad Jon Voight's 1982 film, "Lookin' To Get Out," playing -- of all things! -- Voight's daughter, named Tosh. But this super cute little clip comes when she's with her on-screen mom, who was played by Ann Margaret, and we can see her natural charm and the beginnings of her trademark features even at that early age.

[1] I've always had this fascination with seeing current rich and famous figures in their humble beginnings, and the success of tabloid columns and webpages devoted to that very topic suggest I'm not the only one. When some A-list faces are as familiar to us as those of our actual loved ones, seeing long-ago photos or videos of them is amusing in the same way that seeing pictures of your friends as little kids is amusing. "Before They Were Famous: 25 Actors in 3 Minutes" collects some especially amusing snippets of today's biggest stars, including Angelina Jolie, Ryan Gosling, Jack Nicholson, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, in some of their earliest acting gigs. Watch the video after the jump. They're not all first-time roles -- I'd argue that Seth Rogen in Donnie Darko hardly counts as even a pre-fame role, as he'd already starred in Freaks & Geeks by then -- but the clips collected here...

Angelina Jolie has reconciled with her father Jon Voight after eight years of estrangement.
The Hollywood beauty cut her dad out of her life in 2001 after he voiced concerns about her mental health shortly before she adopted son Maddox from Cambodia.
Voight has made attempts to mend his fractured relationship with Jolie on numerous occasions, and reportedly sent the actress a copy of their forgotten 1982 comedy Lookin' To Get Out over the summer, when it was released on DVD for the first time.
And the veteran star's efforts have paid off - the pair is in contact, although Voight admits they don't talk as frequently as he would have liked.
He tells Us Weekly magazine, "We're in touch, but not regularly. We love each other and that's the most important thing."
A close friend of Jolie adds it was her partner Brad Pitt who encouraged her to reunite with her movie star father.
The insider says, "Angie made the initial contact. Brad has been supportive - a key factor in her reaching out."...

Do The Right Thing: 20th Anniversary Edition (Universal) Spike Lee’s groundbreaking fable about race relations in an ethnically mixed Brooklyn neighborhood during a sweltering New York summer remains as potent, timely and prescient as it was in 1989. Lee is among the cast, which also includes John Turturro, Danny Aiello, Samuel L. Criminally ignored by Oscar (it wasn't even nominated for Best Picture, but did garner nods for Supporting Actor Danny Aiello and Lee’s screenplay), it endures as a timeless classic. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Commentary by Lee, Ernest Dickerson, Wynn Thomas, Joie Lee; Documentary; Deleted and extended scenes; Featurettes. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS 5.1 surround.

Angelina Jolie's first film is set to make its DVD debut in a newly-edited version produced by her estranged father Jon Voight.
The actress made her big-screen debut in Lookin' to Get Out at age five, playing the daughter of her real-life dad, but the movie flopped at the box office.
Voight blames tension and turmoil between the cast and crew for its poor reception, and has issued the film's first video release after learning director Hal Ashby had secretly re-edited the movie before his death in 1988.
Voight tells the New York Post, "Hal was working on two other films at the time (of the movie's release), and there was a lot of drama. Our film was handed over to other editors, and the result was a crippled movie. We were very hurt by the reception.
"I was a co-writer and co-producer, so I had a lot to say about the casting... Angie was terrific, very well-prepared. I wasn't looking for any signs whether she'd be an actress... Hal's hand is in every single frame. Finally, this is the film he intended. It's like a message in a bottle."
The newly-edited version is set for U.S. release on Tuesday.

While journalist Nick Dawson was researching his new biography, "Hal Ashby: Life of a Hollywood Rebel," his interviews with Jon Voight (who won an Oscar for Ashby's "Coming Home") revealed that a director's cut of a long-lost Ashby/Voight collaboration still existed under everybody's noses. 1982's "Lookin' to Get Out," which had its world premiere last week at the Sarasota Film Festival as part of an Ashby retrospective tied to Dawson's book, will finally be available to audiences when it hits DVD on June 30th. Voight and Burt Young co-star as Alex and Jerry, a couple of small-time New York gamblers -- lovable losers, both -- who escape to Vegas when their debts come knocking at their door. Pretending to be a casino owner's close friends while he's out of town, the two foolishly exploit their free comps to try to win back their losses, much to the chagrin of the returning tycoon,...

Angelina Jolie's first movie role in a forgotten 1982 comedy is set for release - 27 years after it was made.
Jolie was just four when she appeared alongside her actor father Jon Voight in cult Shampoo and Being There director Hal Ashby's Lookin’ To Get Out, but her part was cut and the film only had a limited release.
Ashby re-cut the film before his death in 1988 and his family and Voight, who starred in the director's Coming Home, have worked tirelessly to get the new film a release.
Voight, who also co-wrote the film, says, "We had all sorts of drama in the making of it and in the final stages, Hal was not able to finish the film, so there was some damage done to the film and it came out in a crippled form. Unfortunately, nobody saw the film in a proper state."
The actor had no idea Ashby had re-cut the film - and handed the finished product to film archivists at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Voight only learned of the existence of the director's cut when he was approached by Ashby's biographer Nick Dawson two years ago.
Dawson introduced the actor to Lee Ashby McManus - the daughter Ashby never met - and she revealed Lookin' To Get Out was her favourite film, because she felt sure Jolie's role at the end of the movie was based on her.
Voight tells BlogTalkRadio.com, "She said, 'I think the little girl at the end, who was played by Angelina Jolie... was me.' I thought about it and I said, 'It is very possible it was you.' I remember discussions we had and it was supposed to be a little boy, and Hal wanted a little girl."
The Oscar winner is thrilled the film will eventually be seen as his director friend intended: "It's a big deal to me... I like this film very, very much."
The director's cut of Lookin' To Get Out, which also features Ann Margret and Rocky star Burt Young, will debut at the Sarasota Film Festival in Florida next month, ahead of the movie's DVD release on 20 June.

Angelina Jolie still hasn't seen all of the films she's made in her career - because she "doesn't like to watch movies". The 33-year-old Oscar-winner made her big screen debut as a child alongside her father Jon Voight in the 1982 film Lookin' to Get Out and has become one of the world's most recognisable faces over the years.
But Jolie, who's made nearly 40 films to date, insists her work takes a back seat to her roles as a mum-of-six and partner to Brad Pitt.
In an interview on U.S. news programme Good Morning America on Tuesday, she says, "A film or two I haven't seen. Most of them I have seen once. I like the process of doing them more than watching them. I don't really like to watch movies."
But the actress is certain to have reviewed her steamy 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Pitt.
She adds of her one exception: "I love to watch Brad's movies... I say kids first, woman to Brad and then my work internationally; and try to educate myself and learn about the world and do some good things while I'm alive. So what is that (ranking)? Fourth?"...
