The 24th animated Disney classic is one of the most emotional and heartwarming cartoons ever.
"The Fox and the Hound" is highly underrated but it is one of Disney's finest movies. It isn't one of the most popular Disney cartoons, but that doesn't stop it from being one of their best.
This is one of those movies that touches our hearts. It is beautiful, sad, joyful, emotional, heartwarming and nostalgic.
This motion picture shows very well how the most beautiful things in life are the least long-lasting things in life. It takes us to the magic and innocence of childhood, when life is beautiful and without anything to worry about. You simply enjoy each moment of your life and live it.
However, once you grow up, that's when you realize how difficult and unfair life really is and you see than nothing lasts forever, although during the childhood it seems that everything good is going to last forever.
"The Fox and the Hound" is a rich production like "Bambi". In fact, it resembles "Bambi" for its enchantment, gorgeous artwork, attention to detail, adorable music, magic, touching story and unforgettable characters. It's almost like a "Bambi" from the 1980's. If you love "Bambi", then you'll love "The Fox and the Hound" just as much...
This movie is often criticized for being conservator and also for its songs. There's nothing conservator about it. It is a timeless classic with the same nostalgia feeling as the great Disney classics.
About the songs, "Best of Friends" is a hymn to the beauty and magic of childhood. "Goodbye May Seem Forever" is a very sad, emotional and depressing song which is possible to make cry because it plays during one of the saddest moments of the movie.
Tod and Copper, when little, are both cute, adorable and innocent. When they grow up, they're still cute but they lose their innocence and their friendship ends. The circumstances of the whole dog/fox thing makes Copper become Tod's enemy.
Widow Tweed is a funny character. She's a kind-hearted lady but she has a strong personality at the same time, which alouds her to confront the heartless Amos Slade. Some of these confrontations are among the funniest moments of the movie.
Boomer and Dinky are a perfect comic relief. Boomer is a woodpecker voiced by the genius Paul Winchell (Tigger's voice). So, as you can see, Boomer is another humorous character. Boomer is the funniest one, while Dinky is way more serious. But every scene with Boomer and Dinky chasing Squeeks (the little caterpillar) is hilarious. They always try to catch Squeeks, but unsuccessfully.
Chief is naturally a nasty, mean and ferocious hound dog, but still he is wise and cool. Chief is voiced by one of Disney's legends: Pat Buttram.
This should definitely be on Top 250.
