adaptation as protection wall
Vincentiu30 December 2012
heroic, patriotic and full of adventures, it is a film for teenagers. land of escape for directors behind the Comunist Party commands, this genre was perfect territory for a kind of artistic freedom. and the novels of period - Racheta albă,Cireșarii, Pistruiatul, Roșcovanul, Aventurile lui Babușcă - perfect protection wall against suspicion. so, result is almost nice. like this case. a brave boy, a lady and her daughter in mountains and, sure, the bad guys. predictable victory of virtues and moralistic end. nothing new. the film has its special flavor only for a Romanian generation. because, subject is not very credible and acting - common. exercise of a time to do more than propaganda in pure form, it remains a name in sentimental memory of some people.

bad guys. brave teenager. a mother and her daughter. the meteorological observatory. the secrets of the mountain. and this is all. nothing new but seductive if you are part from the Romanian children of "80. because, out of historical/political context, the film gives almost nothing. the performances are far to be more than decent/ sketches. the story is unrealistic. the dialogues ... . the only good point could be to see it as an early version of Home alone from a Eastern Comunist country. sure, with great differences. a film for nostalgic and useful for understand a period. small teenager novels. and theirs adaptations as a form of entertainment. the pressure of dictatorship. and the propaganda message. nothing original. maybe nice. because, in essence, it is only a trip in time.
