Agatha made her debut in the Disney+ series ‘WandaVision’ as the curious neighbor turned formidable witch attempting to steal Wanda’s powers. By the series’ conclusion, Agatha is vanquished and trapped in her mundane neighbor guise, stripped of her powers, a transition likely to be depicted in the show’s premiere episode. The characters’ bond is rooted in the comics, where Agatha ranks among the most potent sorcerers in the Marvel Comics Universe.
Adding to a string of revelations, we now have another update. While fans had already speculated that the show would be a musical based on hints and theories, it has finally been officially confirmed.
Joe Locke, Patti LuPone, and Kathryn Hahn, speaking to Deadline, offered a glimpse into the upcoming show, teasing its comedic brilliance and giving fans a taste of what’s to come.

Agatha debuted in the Disney+ series ‘WandaWision,’ as the nosy neighbour-turned-powerful witch who tried to steal Wanda’s powers. By the end of the show, Agatha is defeated and trapped in her noisy neighbor persona, left powerless, which will obviously translate to the first episode of the show. The two characters share a connection from the comics, with Agatha being one of the most powerful magic users in the Marvel Comics Universe.
Now following a series of revelations, we’ve gotten one more update. Although fans already suspected that the show will be a musical based on what we’ve seen (and speculated) so far, it’s finally been confirmed.
Speaking for Deadline, Joe Locke, Patti LuPone and Kathryn Hahn teased a hilarious show and prepared fans for what to expect:

After spectacularly stealing the show with her immaculate portrayal of Agatha Harkness in the fan-favorite WandaVision, Kathryn Hahn is all set to reprise her role in her own soon-to-hit-the-screens action series alongside Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vidal. That being said, details about the first trailer of this upcoming show have also been revealed recently along with the series’ seemingly final title.
Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness in WandaVision.
Needless to say, Hahn and Plaza most certainly had viewers seated at the edge of their seats when the trailer (yet to go online) showed both of their characters in the most unexpected ways, building up even more anticipation among fans for the same. As for the title which has been changed multiple times previously, for now, it seems to be standing still at Agatha All Along.

Remember Ironheart? She showed up in Wakanda Forever and then vanished. Well, Riri Williams’ Disney+ journey to be the MCU’s replacement for Ironman will finally see the light of day … in 2025.
Several announcements were made at yesterday’s Disney Upfront event. Ironheart was among them, along with yet another retitle for the Agatha series.
Dominique Thorne was present during the reveals. Although the video hasn’t surfaced from this moment, the actress did speak to Deadline on the red (err…blue) carpet.

After months of hijinks, Marvel Studios Television (find more on that change here) announced yesterday that its upcoming WandaVision sequel will be titled Agatha All Along.
We're getting a two-episode Disney+ premiere on September 18 and, yesterday evening, Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, and Patti LuPone were on hand for the Walt Disney Company's Upfront presentation in New York to discuss the series.
"The thing about this show which I thought was so thrilling [is] that Jac Schaeffer, who wrote it and also wrote WandaVision...it was very important to her and Mary Livanos, our producer, that there be as minimal CGI," Hahn explained, "so there's very little that is not practical magic or just our magic.
"That was a very exciting something to set up that we were able to prove again and again we could do it," the actress continued. "So, it's minimal CGI, but that was very thrilling. [The] sets are incredible.

Marvel Television was originally a separate entity from Marvel Studios, spearheaded by Jeph Loeb under the watchful eye of former Marvel Entertainment Chairman Isaac Perlmutter.
Before being shut down in 2019 (when Disney handed full control of all things Marvel to Kevin Feige), Marvel Television produced the likes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Netflix's Defenders slate, and even the likes of Cloak & Dagger, The Runaways, and M.O.D.O.K.
The vast majority of characters were off-limits to Marvel Television, with Marvel Studios' desires prioritised by Disney. For Feige, Loeb's outfit was an annoyance, particularly as much of what they produced - Inhumans, for example - damaged the MCU brand.
Marvel Studios has since discovered that producing TV shows isn't as easy as it looks. Last year, the decision was made to creatively overhaul Daredevil: Born Again and the studio's small screen output as a whole, with "Head Writers" finally replaced with proper showrunners.

It’s Agatha All Along: Multiple Title Changes for Upcoming Marvel Show Part of Hype - Main Image
Marvel finally reveals Agatha All Along as the official title of the WandaVision spinoff starring Kathryn Hahn.
Since the series' first announcement in 2021, it has had several subtitle changes: House of Harkness, Darkhold Diaries, and Coven of Chaos. The most recent one is The Lying Witch with the Great Wardrobe, a not-so-subtle callback to C.S. Lewis’s bestselling children’s novel. Marvel uploaded the latter’s title card earlier this week but immediately deleted it afterwards.
Fans will remember Agatha All Along as the viral hit song performed by Agatha in the seventh episode of WandaVision, where she reveals that she is not just the nosy neighbour Agnes but a witch who has been disrupting Wanda’s made-up reality in an attempt to steal her chaos magic.

Wanda’s journey in the MCU has been complex. She began as a villain, transitioned into a hero, faced tragedy, experienced loss, briefly returned to villainy, and then reclaimed a heroic mantle by destroying the Darkhold and seemingly sacrificing herself.
The conclusion of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ left her fate uncertain. Official statements haven’t clarified whether Wanda is still alive within the MCU.
Many fans, myself included, think that mere collapsing debris wouldn’t pose a significant threat to a Nexus being with such vast Multiversal potential. After all, we’ve seen Wanda endure far worse, so her return seems likely. Lately, there have been rumors suggesting she might get her own standalone movie. Even if that doesn’t materialize, there are several projects where her return would make perfect sense.

Wanda was never just a character in the MCU. She started out a villain, became a hero, became a hero with a tragic backstory, lost everything, and circled back to being a villain until eventually becoming sort of a hero again by destroying Darkhold and supposedly taking her own life.
Now even the ending of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ was pretty open-ended, and the official statements on the matter really did nothing to answer the question – is Wanda still alive within the MCU?
Most fans, including me, believe that collapsing debris can’t really do much against Nexus being with such a Multiversal potential, after all, we’ve seen Wanda tanking far worse, so she will likely return. For his first screen project since Doctor Who, Chris Chibnall is adapting Agatha Christie’s The Seven Dials Mystery for Netflix. More here.
Since he left behind the showrunner chair on Doctor Who, Chris Chibnall has done a theatre production, but not committed to another screen project. Well, until now. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Chibnall was steering an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel The Seven Dials Mystery, and a bit more on that has now come to light.
Chris Chibnall has written the script for the production, which is being backed by Netflix. Chris Sweeney is directing, and the plan is to get the show in front of the cameras this summer. The story is set in a stately home, so it’s a fair bet that this is going to shoot in a similar property in the British countryside.

‘WandaVision,’ a popular Marvel series about Wanda Maximoff dealing with her loss, got a lot of love for its unique storytelling and digging into the characters’ feelings. It did so well that there are two new shows spinning off from it: ‘Agatha,’ coming to Disney+ soon, and ‘Vision Quest,’ which doesn’t have a release date yet.
Last year, the WGA Directory said ‘Vision Quest’ was expected to come out in the 2024-2025 TV season. ‘WandaVision,’ a hit Marvel series centering on Wanda Maximoff and the aftermath of her loss, was praised for its creative approach to storytelling and exploration of the character’s personalities and emotions. The show was also successful enough to warrant two additional spinoffs, ‘Agatha,’ which is set to arrive on Disney+ later this year, and ‘Vision Quest,’ show with as-of-yet uncertain release date.
Last year, the WGA Directory listed ‘Vision Quest’ as reportedly arriving during the 2024-2025 TV season. Miriam Margolyes is an incredible English and Australian actress who has been part of several revered and acclaimed projects. Yet every Harry Potter fan, or hater, would know her best as the bubbly and cheerful Professor Sprout. Despite only being in two of the eight movies of the popular fantasy franchise, the actress recently came into the limelight when she made a pretty controversial statement about it.

“Harry Potter” franchise professor Miriam Margolyes told News Corp Australia’s News.com.au that she was approached by Marvel to star in a project described to her as “a story about witches. But she ultimately turned it down due to its location, along with the fact that playing the Potter films’ Pomona Sprout had her reluctant to play in the magic world again. Given the timing and Marvel’s projects in development, it appears to be “WandaVision” spinoff miniseries “Agatha.”
The actress explained in the interview, published last year, that the show’s location was a problem for her. “I don’t like America and I didn’t want to be in Georgia for four months,” she said. “So I just said, ‘well, I want a million pounds’ and they said, ‘you can have half a million,’ and I said, ‘no, I don’t want to do it,’ so it just stopped.

Miriam Margolyes is opening up about turning down the chance to star in a Marvel project.
In her new autobiography Oh Miriam!, the 82-year-old actress – who played Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter movies – revealed that she passed on a role in the WandaVision spinoff series, Agatha.
Keep reading to find out more…“They contacted me and said, ‘we’re doing a story about witches’. I thought, ‘oh god, not witches again, because I’ve done that with Harry Potter,” Miriam wrote, according to News Corp Australia.
“I don’t like America and I didn’t want to be in Georgia for four months,” Miriam continued. “So I just said, ‘well, I want a million pounds’ [which would be about $1.2 million in U.S. dollars] and they said, ‘you can have half a million’, and I said, ‘no, I don’t want to do it’, so it just stopped. Really it’s a story about my own greed rather than anything else.

In 2024, Disney is set for changes. Following a string of underperforming MCU releases in 2023, Bob Iger emphasized a shift towards prioritizing quality over quantity in their content production. With over 20 MCU projects in various stages of development and numerous Star Wars shows and movies in the pipeline, many announced during the 2023 Star Wars Celebration event, Disney+ has now confirmed several of these upcoming projects. Most are slated for release in 2024. Let’s take a look at what’s in store.
1. ‘X-Men ’97’ — March 20
‘X-Men ’97’ debuts on the platform with its first two episodes premiering on March 20, 2024. The series will comprise 10 episodes, each with an average runtime of 30 minutes. As a continuation of ‘X-Men: The Animated Series,’ it exists outside the MCU canon, residing within its own timeline. Nevertheless, for those seeking a nostalgic trip, this is an unmissable treat.

2024 is bound to be a year of change, at least as far as Disney goes. After several big-budget MCU productions failed in 2023 and were met with a lukewarm reception, Bob Iger himself stated that they will definitely focus on quality over quantity in the future and will scale down their content production. We also know that there are over 20 MCU projects in development or rumored to be in development, and the Star Wars universe also has a full slate of upcoming shows & movies, most of them announced during the 2023 Star Wars Celebration event. Now in recent news, Disney+ confirmed several of those upcoming projects, and most of them are scheduled to be released in 2024 let’s see what they are:

Agatha first appeared in the Disney+ series ‘WandaVision’ as a nosy neighbor who turns out to be a powerful witch wanting to take Wanda’s powers. At the show’s end, she’s defeated and left powerless, stuck in her neighbor persona, setting up her story for the new series. Agatha has a rich history in the comics as a powerful magic user, which ties her to Wanda.
The character became popular in her live-action form, leading Marvel Studios to start working on a dark comedy spin-off centered on Kathryn Hahn’s portrayal in October 2021.
Hahn’s role was part of a larger deal with Marvel Studios, leading to the series being announced as ‘Agatha: House of Harkness’ during Disney+ Day in November 2021. The title changed to ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ in July 2022, and then to ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ in September 2023. According to the official Disney+ site, the show will...

The fans took a liking to the live-action version of the character, and by October 2021, Marvel Studios began developing a dark comedy spin-off from ‘WandaVision’ focused on Kathryn Hahn’s character.
Hahn’s involvement was part of a broader deal with Marvel Studios, and the series was officially announced as ‘Agatha: House of Harkness’ during the Disney+ Day event in November 2021. The Marvel Cinematic Universe or the MCU is only getting bigger by the day. With some of the most incredible storylines and characters, the franchise has become home to several talented actors and actresses, bringing to life countless fan-favorite superheroes. Following the fallout of Jonathan Majors’ conviction, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is getting a new title.
In December last year, Jonathan Majors was convicted on harrassement and assault charges. The state of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in the scheme of things the least important thing to be considering, but a few months hence and Marvel appear to be making some headway with its future plans.
Marvel fired Majors just hours after the conviction and is currently in the process of rewriting all films in which Majors was set to appear as the MCU’s next major villain Kang. It appears the plan for Kang now is that all future scripts “will now either minimise the character or excise him entirely”.
In other Marvel news, its “creative retooling”, as it’s calling it, is in full swing. It aims to give showrunners more creative control over future television shows, after...

Joe Locke, the breakout star of “Heartstopper,” has always had dreams of being on Broadway. Now, at just 20 years old, the British actor has made his Broadway debut as Tobias Ragg in the Tony-nominated revival of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.”
After his first performance in late January, he posted photos and video of himself from the show with the caption, “Little Joe would be happy rn.” His “Heartstopper” co-star Kit Connor and music superstar Olivia Rodrigo were among those who messaged their congratulations in the comment section.
“It’s very pinch-me all the time, which is great,” Locke says on this week’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast. “But every night I’m like, ‘What am I doing?’ – in the best way.”
Locke acted in amateur stage productions until he was about 15 in an old Victorian theater in his native Isle of Man. “The...

In a year of reduced Marvel output, there are still a lot of interesting comic book adaptations emerging in 2024 from both Sony and Marvel Studios. WandaVision got the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Disney+ era off to a strong start and it’s not hard to see why. The series featured a compelling love story between a witch and an android, satisfying callbacks to classic sitcoms, and most importantly: Kathryn Hahn.

That’s why it was no surprise that her mild-mannered next door neighbor Agnes was revealed to be none other than Agatha Harkness – powerful witch and the architect of all of Wanda’s suffering. Wanda’s journey in the MCU is profoundly poignant. Amidst the devastating Novi Grad Bombings, she endured loss and, alongside her brother Pietro, resorted to desperate measures to acquire power for retribution against Tony Stark. Pietro sacrificed himself when they turned against Ultron, leaving Wanda to navigate a path of love with Vision and defiance against Thanos.
Her MCU tenure saw the wrenching loss of Vision, her imagined children, and ultimately her sanity. Yet, she gained a potent compensation—the formidable powers of Scarlet Witch. Before her departure, Wanda executed a crucial act: she obliterated the Darkhold Castle on Wundagore Mountain, eliminating every copy of the Darkhold. The castle’s collapse seemingly claimed her life, as affirmed in the 2023 MCU timeline book. However, fans, fueled by hope, challenge the notion that one of the mightiest Avengers succumbed to mere rubble.

Wanda’s story in the MCU is one of the most heartbreaking. She lost everything in the Novi Grad Bombings, and then, along with her brother Pietro, she turned to desperate means to secure some kind of power to get their vengeance on Tony Stark.
Pietro was lost when the twins turned on Ultron in self-sacrifice, but Wanda continued on, fell in love with Vision, and took a stand against Thanos. By the end of her career in the MCU, she would lose Vision, her imaginary children, and ultimately her own sanity, but she would gain something far more powerful: the powers of Scarlet Witch.
Still, before she went, Wanda did one thing right: she collapsed the Darkhold Castle on Wundagore Mountain on top of herself, destroying every single copy of Darkhold in existence, and the collapse of the castle seemingly led to her death. While her death was confirmed in the 2023 MCU timeline book,...

The finale of the miniseries A Murder at the End of the World came to reveal who the killer was, but if you have been following the series, you pretty much could see that it was going to subvert all your expectations. The seventh episode of the series morphed into a moral lesson about AI after switching from the whodunnit model of storytelling. All the strings were nicely tied up at the end, but in an attempt to give a radically twisted ending to the miniseries, it forced itself to go into a territory that was emotionally too dry. The FX series created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij will be remembered for the atmosphere it built and the emotional investment in the interpersonal dynamics of its characters, if not the ending. The show was so meticulous about driving its points home, especially the details of Bill Farrah and Darby Hart’s relationship,...

‘WandaVision’ stands as one of Disney+’s top-rated shows, praised for its original take on Wanda’s post-blip life and emotional struggles. The introduction of compelling characters inevitably led to spinoffs, with the White Vision project and rumors of a Wiccan show gaining traction.
One particularly anticipated project is ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries,’ centered around the WandaVision villain, set to release in 2024. Despite teasers and details about the plot and Witches’ Road circulating, the primary focus remains on whether Wanda will make a cameo in ‘Agatha,’ even if a brief one.
Asif Ali, who portrayed Norm in ‘WandaVision,’ initially confirmed Wanda’s appearance in a now-deleted Instagram comment, creating a buzz among fans. The first Marvel / Disney+ series WandaVision is getting a collector’s edition Blu-ray release tomorrow (you can order a copy Here) – and apparently a featurette that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the spin-off / follow-up Agatha: Darkhold Diaries (which was formerly known as Agatha: House of Harkness and then Agatha: Coven of Chaos) is included in the extras! Agatha isn’t expected to start streaming on the Disney+ service until the early fall of 2024 – possibly on September 19, 2024 – so this featurette gets the marketing started quite early.
Some fans have already received their WandaVision Blu-rays and decided to share the featurette on X:

I don't know about you, but after the double whammy of Belfast and Death on the Nile, I was ready to give up on Kenneth Branagh as a director. Yet, like Michael Corleone famously said: "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!"
Turns out that what Branagh and, more specifically, his Agatha Christie adaptations needed was a healthy shot of nonsense plus the spooky seasonings of horror. A Haunting in Venice, now streaming on Hulu, succeeds by untethering itself from literary fidelity, twisting Christie's Hallowe'en Party out of shape in pursuit of maximum entertainment. Though a sense of melancholy pervades, self-serious prestige is abandoned, or mayhap sacrificed at a witches' altar. And from its deadened carcass, Hercule Poirot emerges as the center of a ghostly storm, the skeptic anchor keeping this Hammer Horror resurgence from floating away on the Lido tide…...

The upcoming Disney+ spin-off will follow up on the story of Kathryn Hahn's mischievous WandaVision character after she was defeated by Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff in the franchise's first streaming show.
Agatha has had a bumpy road to get to this point. The streaming series has undergone two different title changes and was thrown around the Marvel Studios schedule like a ball at Little League practice.
