Animal Planet’s classic hit Meerkat Manor is getting the animated treatment from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation.
In early development, the feature will be produced by Seth Green and Tracy Falco via the duo’s The Green Room production banner, the studio announced Tuesday.
The original producer of the show, Caroline Hawkins and Clare Birks of Oxford Scientific, will executive produce.
Airing on Warners-owned Animal Planet from 2005 to 2008, the show centered on the exploits of a family of meerkats dubbed The Whiskers living in South Africa’s Kalahari Desert. The show became a worldwide hit, garnering Emmy nominations and at one point was Animal Planet’s most watched show.
Warners plans to produce the feature using photoreal animation, in what it dubbed “in the spirit of Happy Feet,” the 2006 animated feature co-directed by George Miller that centered on penguins.

Secret Agents. We love them. What’s not to love? They go to exotic locations, seduce beautiful women, use insanely cool gadgets, drive awesome cars, and just kick ass. I don’t know about you, but I wanted to be one when I was growing up. But the thought of doing a push-up at the time was as hard as skydiving. So I grew up, and the closest I ever got was asking for a vodka martini shaken, not stirred, at a bar once….which I immediately spit out on the floor. So yeah, I was never going to be James Bond.
But then I found a show that made me believe that in another world, a schlubby loser like me could be a superspy. What was the show? Well, it was Chuck, of course.
Yes, Chuck, the show about that Best Buy… Uh, I mean…. “Buy More”, Geek Squad…...

François Truffaut goes deep and morbid adapting a Henry James story about a man who chooses to ‘devote himself to his beloved dead.’ He builds an altar-shrine to a departed bride and comrades that didn’t survive the Great War. A sympathetic woman considers aiding him, but his obsession keeps choosing life-negating directions. It’s a weird, morbid but highly understandable tale from the edge of the fantastic. The cinematographer is Néstor Almendros; the film is part of a 4-title François Truffaut Collection.

I didn’t discover Bo Burnham when his YouTube videos went viral and he began performing at age 16. I saw him sing “Art is Dead” on The Green Room with Paul Provenza and loved the music and statement so much that I bought his stand-up album, Words Words Words, to hear more. After controversy-causing Roseanne Barr invoked Roseanne 2.0's cancellation with a racist tweet, we've been playing a mental highlight reel of her most offensive moments. And though the worst of it is heavily weighted, it's safe to say that we were all offended by her dying cat rendition of the National Anthem. Of course in typical Roseanne fashion, the personality was very Idgaf about what other people thought, addressing it in an interview on The Green Room with Paul Provenza. "I care what people do," she said. "I don’t care what they think. That’s what I’m trying to say. Let’s stop holocausts. When I did The Star Spangled Banner — let’s care about freedom, instead of symbols of freedom for a f--king change." ...she was defending a photoshoot she did as Adolf Hitler at the time. In aaaany case, she was not the first (and definitely not...

Stephen Dorff has joined that cast of HBO's highly anticipated third season of True Detective. I love this anthology crime series, and it's awesome to see Dorff land a lead role in it.
Dorff will play a character named Roland West, he's described as "an Arkansas State Investigator who, along with his partner, has his life and career influenced over three decades by a baffling crime." His partner, Wayne Hays, will be played by the previously cast Mahershala Ali.
Carmen Ejogo also stars in the series and will play Amelia Reardon, "an Arkansas schoolteacher with a connection to two missing children in 1980." All we really know about the story so far is that it will revolve around a dark crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and "a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods."

Last night Tony Award winner Frances Ruffelle performed her cabaret show titled Frances Ruffelle LiveS in New York at The Green Room 42 and there was no doubt the audience was ecstatic this Englishwoman, Broadway and West End star lives in New York. The produces of the show promised a widely entertaining ride straight through the core of the most tender hear, fiery passion and loose comic confidence of a seasoned performer at the height of her game and they were spot on with that prediction. Francis created the iconic role of Eponine in Les Miserables and turned On My Own into one of Broadway's most beloved standards. She has made 5 solo albums and has performed countless West End Shows including her most recent critically acclaimed performance as Queenie in the U.K. Premiere of Michael Lachusa's infamous Wild Party .

The Cable Network HBO has officially given the "go ahead" on the third season of Nic Pizzolatto’s popular crime series True Detective. Earlier this summer HBO closed a deal with Oscar winner Mahershala Ali to star in the 3rd installment. Jeremy Saulnier (The Green Room) has now been set as a Season 3 director alongside Pizzolatto who will make his directorial debut on the series.
Deadline Hollywood reports that season 3 of True Detective tells the story of a dark crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and "a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods." Ali plays the lead role of Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas.
Like with the breakout first season of True Detective, which Pizzolatto wrote by himself, he is the only writer on this newest season except for episode 4 which he co-wrote with David Milch. We still...
