  • Miscellaneous: When the Bandit first sees Carrie, he comes to a screeching halt on the road with several skid marks from previous takes.

  • Continuity: Carrie's position in Bandit's car when it goes off the road and hits the mailboxes.

  • Continuity: Sheriff Justice's gun belt disappears and reappears when he is first seen.

  • Continuity: In every shot of the Trans Am's speedometer, the odometer always shows effectively the same mileage, and the ignition is in the "off" position.

  • Crew or equipment visible: Camera mount visible in one scene looking in the Trans Am's driver's window.

  • Continuity: Sheriff Justice's car door is closed momentarily before being stuck off.

  • Continuity: Just before Sheriff Justice gives his, "this car is evidence" discourse to the Alabama State Trooper he pulls up directly behind the Troopers vehicle (obvious by the lights and stickers on the door). Following the discourse, when Sheriff Justice tells the Trooper to F.O. Justice pulls straight forward where the Troopers vehicle should still be parked.

  • Factual errors: Sheriff Justice states repeatedly that he is from Texarkana, Texas, which is in Bowie County, but the decal on the sheriff's car door reads "Montague, Co.", which is six counties to the west of Bowie, Co., along the Red River.

  • Factual errors: When Sheriff Justice pulls up the three guys at the abandoned car, they do not hear the sound of his car pull up or the sound of him walking, yet they can hear the sound of the cigarette lighter being closed.

  • Continuity: When Snowman gets stopped by the bike cop, he says that Snowman was going 96 mph. In the shots before that, you can tell that Snowman was probably going about 65 mph because of how slow the scenery was going by.

  • Miscellaneous: When we see Sheriff Buford T Justice for the very first time, as he is opening his door to get out of the car the Sheriff badge on the side of his car has had part of it post-smudged out to cover the lettering.

  • Continuity: When Sheriff Justice is stopped at the roadblock and a truck comes by and knocks his open door off we see the car from a distance and the door is closed, not open.

  • Continuity: Before Buford and Junior wait because of the funeral procession, Junior's hat is missing and when they stop, his hat is on his head. Then it get blown off a few moments later.

  • Continuity: When the Trans Am jumps the bridge, one police car falls into the water and the other hangs onto the side at an angle. It shows the car hanging over open water, but when Sheriff Justice hits that car, it falls into a pile of rubble with almost no water.

  • Crew or equipment visible: In one of the shots from the hood of the Trans Am, an object is seen for a second covering part of the camera. it moves away quickly.

  • Continuity: When Bandit's truck and the Trans Am pull up to the Coors warehouse in Texarkana, the Trans Am is parked parallel to the curb behind the truck. In the next scene, the Trans Am is now parked behind the truck at a diagonal angle.

  • Continuity: Skid marks near the wedding car are gone when the truck goes by.

  • Continuity: A rearview mirror is missing in some chase scenes.

  • Continuity: Two police cars go off the bridge. When the second one goes off, the first has disappeared.

  • Continuity: The hood of Buford's car buckles in bridge accident, but it later fixed.

  • Continuity: State of repair of Buford's left headlight.

  • Revealing mistakes: The 1977 Trans Am that is used as the boys cross the Texas state-line has the "Honeycomb" wheels which are actually used on 1976 Trans Ams. In other shots the Trans Ams use the "Snowflake" wheels that were new for 1977 and would be the correct wheel for that model.

  • Continuity: Duplicate scenery throughout movie.

  • Continuity: In the first police chase when it is dark, Bandit dodges the smokey behind a small house of some kind. As he drives up from the front you can see one of his headlights is not working, yet shortly after when you see the car from the front its working again.

  • Continuity: When the Trans-Am crashes through the fence at the football game, its CB antenna is knocked off only to reappear later.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: The Trans-Am has an automatic transmission, but the audio tracks repeatedly use engine sounds from a manually shifted car.

  • Continuity: No matter how many dusty roads the Bandit drives on, the Trans-Am is always washed in the next scene.

  • Continuity: Bandit's ring moves from his ring finger to his middle finger.

  • Continuity: Just before Carrie is picked up (Bandit is driving in the rain), two people can be seen in the Trans Am.

  • Continuity: When the police car at the road block is knocked off the embankment, the car seen rolling down towards the river is a late-'60s Ford Galaxie, but when it comes to rest at the bottom, it is a Plymouth Fury.

  • Continuity: After Buford's car drives under the truck and loses its roof, the side mirror is dangling and almost off, but is firmly reattached in subsequent shots.

  • Revealing mistakes: Beer boxes being loaded on the truck are empty. Clearly visible when Snowman is thrown over them.

  • Crew or equipment visible: In numerous shots of Carrie and Bandit in the Trans Am, the top of the camera is reflected in the car's door.

  • Continuity: As Carrie and Bandit approach the playing field's dugout in their Trans Am, the back wall is clearly made of cinderblock. But when they burst through the other side, the wall is now constructed of wood clapboard.

  • Errors in geography: In one scene that is set in Deeson County, Arkansas, a sign advertising real estate in Clayton County (Georgia) can be seen.

  • Continuity: In the first car chase the police car is a 1972 Plymouth Satellite when it enters the dirt road but when it goes into the creek it is a 1977 Pontiac Lemans.

  • Revealing mistakes: The first time Snowman computes their progress, we see him punching numbers into the trip calculator but no numbers are on the screen showing it wasn't on.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Buford and Bandit are first talking to each other over the CB radios, Buford isn't pushing in the button on the two way radio when he's talking, so in reality, Bandit wouldn't be able to hear him. Also, Buford is talking into the back of the microphone.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Frog asks Bandit if they are really doing 110, the speedometer shows they're going 110km/h, not mph (they're only doing about 67mph).

  • Continuity: Reflections from a windshield in Buford's car can be seen in a scene set long after it was broken off.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Snowman is being thrown out of the bar, as the double-doors are being opened, there is a brief shot of someone's face standing outside on the right-hand side. They are not there when they show Snowman outside. It could be a crew member there to assist with the stunt.

  • Continuity: When Bandit is chased by the first cop it is slightly raining and the pavement is wet. Moments later, when he pulls behind a building to hide, the pavement is completely dry and the car's hatch-roofs are off.

  • Continuity: Near the end of the movie when "Snowman" takes charge into the roadblock of cops cars at the raceway, it clearly shows a "bullbar" or a grill guard on the front of the truck when he blasts through the cars (it wasn't there the whole movie), then in the next scene after he hits the cop cars there is no grill guard on the truck nor a single scratch to it.

  • Errors in geography: At one point in the movie, a radio transmission says they are near Fayetteville and interstate 82. I 82 is not the southeast USA.

  • Continuity: During the 'hiding in the convoy' scene, when Bandit (and later Snowman) pass "Mister B's" tanker truck (the last truck in the convoy, or "back door"), we see that the cab is painted blue. However, when we see a close-up of Mister B talking to Snowman on the CB as he passes the convoy, the cab around him is an orangish-red.

  • Continuity: At the pee wee football game the building that the trans-am breaks through is clearly a cinder block building before it hits it, but shows wood as it breaks through.

  • Continuity: The truck that races the Kenworth, at the Roadeo, changes from a 1970-1977 GMC Astro, with racing number 27, to a 1960-1972 White 7400 Series Cab-Over-Engine, with racing number 10. The Kenworth is also not the Bandit's. This is evident by the single exhaust stack (Bandit truck has two), and the race truck is wearing two-tone brown paint in the "Seminole" stripes. The bandit truck is different in color and design.

  • Continuity: When Buford T Justice is behind the Bandit, the Bandit passes Snowman's truck on the shoulder. The Sheriff attempts to pass the truck, but clips it. He loses control and the back end of the car goes sideways. As it crosses back in front of the truck, it is clearly struck in the right rear quarter panel. The very next scene shows the quarter panel in perfect shape.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Bandit is trapped with cops on one end and the bridge out on the other, one can see that the Trans Am has no rear license plate. Earlier it had a Georgia plate that reads "Ban One."

  • Revealing mistakes: When the police cars slides into the creek backwards, the backup lights are on indicating the car was in reverse.

  • Factual errors: When Cletus is in the bar getting food, and before his fight, he dials a total of 13 numbers on the house phone then tells the operator he would like to make a collect call.

  • Continuity: The position of the trailer axles on Bandit's semi constantly changes through out the movie.

  • Continuity: The scene where Sheriff Justice drives along a line the side of the road and says "is this a drive in movie?". When he is out of the car yelling at the patrolman that told him he can't drive that car on "his highway", all the cars he drove along side of and the tow truck are gone.

  • Continuity: When the Sheriff and his son are waiting for the funeral procession to pass, a few cars in the procession make the left turn in front of him, and then a few seconds later, the same two cars are shown about to make the same left turn.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Bandit says that it is 900 miles each way to Texarkana, TX. Taking back highways it is 662 miles, or 665 taking the interstate.

  • Errors in geography: After picking Carrie up when they were in Descent County Arkansas, while they were driving, Bandit passes a Georgia State road sign clearly showing as GA 92 with the GA state outline on the sign. Other GA State road signs are seen in Mississippi and Alabama, including GA 85 and GA 138.

  • Errors in geography: The "Silver Tongued Devil" asks the Bandit if he is on interstate 82 approaching Fayetteville and the Bandit says yes. But, the route that takes you to Fayetteville from Texarkana is U.S. 71. It is 237 miles of some twisting mountain roads and is five hours in the wrong direction.

  • Factual errors: When "The Bandit" asks "Silver Tongued Devil" as to his location, he answers "Interstate 82". There is no "Interstate 82" in the state of Arkansas. However, U.S. 82 runs from Texarkana, Texas/Arkansas through Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and ends in South Carolina.

  • Plot holes: At the beginning "The Snow Man" and "The Bandit" agree to use odd CB channels and change them every time they talk to each other. And they do change channels during the movie. Everyone else like Sheriff Justice, The Gravedigger, the truckers in the convoy and the prostitutes, are always the same channel as they are without needing to change channels and search for them.

  • Revealing mistakes: Not many times do you see any of the characters press or release the button's on their CB microphones before or after talking into them.

  • Continuity: During the scenes where the Bandit asks the convoy ahead to "slip into the rocking chair," the weather changes back and forth from sunny and clear to overcast. What is more, after the state troopers get ahead of the blocking truck (the one that cut them off and forced them onto the shoulder) and the Bandit, the Trans Am is clearly visible behind them in the right lane only a car length away, yet they don't even turn their head to see it right there.

  • Factual errors: Sheriff Justice states repeatedly that he is from Texarkana, Texas, which is in Bowie County, but the decal on the sheriff's car door reads "Montague, Co.", which is six counties to the west of Bowie, Co., along the Red River.

  • Continuity: Carrie's wedding veil vanishes cleanly out of the car, but then, in the next shot, is caught up in the roof, from where it has to helped out.

  • Continuity: Just before the Bandit jumps the bridge, he does a 180 degree turn around, revealing there is no license plate on the car.

  • Continuity: The motorcycle cop that chases Bandit after pulling Snow-man over, disappears in the rear-view shot that is shown through the Transams front wind-shield, just before Bandit turns.

  • Continuity: There is only the stunt man in Buford's car when the car has its roof taken off under the truck with the Ibeam on it.

  • Continuity: Just before Cledus breaks through the police car barricade, the 2 cops who had been standing there have disappeared.

  • Continuity: When Sheriff Justice lines the three car strippers up against the car he places his sunglasses in his belt next to his gun. As he is about to kick one of the young men in the seat of the pants, only his sunglasses are attached to his belt and the gun is missing. The gun immediately reappears.

  • Revealing mistakes: During the chase scene just after "Snowman" is pulled over by the motorcycle cop one of the chasing cars pulls a u-turn through median to give pursuit. However when performing this maneuver the car blows the front passenger side tire as witnessed by the large puff of white smoke disabling it from adding to the chase squad.

  • Errors in geography: In Sheriff Buford Justices first radio contact with the sheriff from Descent County, AK, there is clearly a sign behind him that says Clayton County, which is in Georgia.

  • Continuity: When Bandit is pulled over on the grass just past the Texarkana sign, as Snowman passes him and honks, there is a hand waving from the passenger side of the car; Bandit has yet to pick up Carrie as he and Snowman haven't picked up the beer yet.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When they are in Georgia and the Bandit is being followed by a Police helicopter, the pilot is heard to report over the radio that Bandit is heading west on 95. Route 95 is a North/South interstate. However, some stretches of I-95 run more East/West than North/South and traffic may be referred to locally as east- or westbound.

  • Continuity: While being pursued by the Arkansas state trooper who was relieving himself at the side of the road, an interior shot shows the Trans Am without a rear-view mirror. It returns in the next outside shot.

  • Continuity: Every time there is a car "trick"on the black top. You can see tire marks on the road showing that it took more than one take.
