Lieutenant Colonel Yonatan "Yonni" Netanyahu (Yehoram Gaon) was the older brother of Benjamin Netanyahu, the future Israeli Prime Minister.
This movie was produced with the cooperation of the Israeli Air Force and the Israeli government.
Nearly all of the extras portraying Ugandan soldiers were played by African Jewish immigrants from Ethiopia, and three of the four Hercules transports that were flown in the mission are shown.
Originally filmed with all of characters speaking in Hebrew, French, German, Arabic, or English per role, this movie was shot a second time concurrently in an all-English version for the international market. With permission from the Globus Group, several documentaries on the rescue use footage from this movie alongside dramatizations of the events.
This movie features original footage of prominent politicians such as Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, and Yigal Alon, although scenes with Peres being briefed by Netanyahu's team and a hostage's father talking to Rabin feature a stand-in whose face is not seen.
