Justin Timberlake, who famously dated Britney Spears, responded to the backlash he’s received following the Framing Britney Spears documentary from the New York Times that debuted on FX and Hulu last week. It also comes in the context of an ongoing legal case between Spears and her father, in which the singer seeks to regain control of her finances.
Spears and Timberlake met when they were cast on The New Mickey Mouse Club in 1992. They dated from 1999-2002. After the spit, Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” seemed to blame Spears for their breakup. The music video featured an actress who looked a lot like Spears.
In an Instagram post Friday morning, Timberlake wrote in part, “I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right.”

Dressing dolls as a child at her parents’ Wisconsin farm, future costume designer Betty Pecha Madden created stories using clothes. By age 17, her interest in costuming having grown serious via high school plays, she left home upon graduation and went to Chicago to find work in the industry.
Madden clothed rock groups and college nightclub acts to pay the rent, but her sights were set higher, and in 1969 she headed to Las Vegas. There she toiled day and night — days as a host at the Hilton International Hotel, nights designing tuxedos for lounge singers and outfits for showgirls. But it was the functional changes to Hilton’s service uniforms that signaled her future direction: costume design.
Moving to Los Angeles in 1972, Madden got her first Hollywood jobs a few years later and, in 1976, scored a gig for producer Mike Wuergler for “The New Mickey Mouse Club.” The videotaped series allowed...

Ideally, singing competitions like NBC’s The Voice offer undiscovered contestants the chance to become almost famous. But in season 5, which began on Monday, we’re seeing contestants who are already famous.
During last night’s blind auditions, E.G. Daily — the voice of Rugrats’ Tommy Pickles, a sometime movie actress (Pee-wee’s Big Adventure), and a singer with a top 10 hit (1987′s “Mind Over Matter”) — competed for a second chance at a music career. And during Monday’s premiere, host Carson Daly told Briana Cuoco, actress Kaley Cuoco’s sister, that she will get to audition in an upcoming episode.

Over the past 12 months, the beloved Brat Pack actress has released her first novel, completed filming the final season of The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and won the Internet over with a classic Reddit Ama. Now she’s celebrating the release of her first album, a collection of jazz standards called Except Sometimes that dropped yesterday. (Yes, Ringwald sings — don’t you forget that The New Mickey Mouse Club launched her career.)
Though most of the album’s tracks wouldn’t seem out of place on a record by Ella Fitzgerald or Susannah McCorkle,...
