Appalled by statistics of South African political prisoners alleged to have died in "accidental" falls from windows while in police custody and the fatuous explanations for their fall, Greenaway invents statistics of people falling out of windows in a fictional parish, together with fantastic explanations, ranging from suicides to dementia to totally improbable accidents, setting them against images of picturesque landscapes seen through various windows.
