(1973) In anticipation of the American remake by Neil LaBute, starring Nicolas Cage, comes a re-release of the brilliant original directed by Robin Hardy from a script by Anthony Shaffer (Sleuth), and starring Edward Woodward stars as the stiff Christian police detective, Christopher Lee as an eccentric nobleman, Diane Cilento, and Ingrid Pitt. One of the most smartly scripted tales of paganism put to screen, Christopher Lee insists this is the best film he ever made.

Robin Hardy directs from a script by Anthony Shaffer (Sleuth), and Edward Woodward stars as the stiff Christian police detective who investigates the disappearance of a young girl on a remote Scottish island lorded over (literally) by an eccentric nobleman (Christopher Lee) and living a happy “heathen” lifestyle. Britt Ekland, Diane Cilento and Ingrid Pitt co-star. The 2-disc set features both the 88 minute theatrical version and 99 minute extended cut.
