  • While attempting to save a herd of buffalo from being killed, a boy is himself shot and killed. His body is seen limp and hanging from a vehicle.
  • A herd of trapped buffalo are shown being shot and killed in multiple scenes. This is one of the key themes of the film.
  • In a dream sequence, the group of boys that are the primary characters are shot and killed by men with rifles as if they were animals, although no wounds or blood is seen. This is interspersed with scenes of buffalo also being shot and killed. One character's own mother shoots him.
