I wouldn't have pegged Jerry Seinfeld as a car guy. But as this clip of Jay Leno pre-interviewing the scheduled first guest on his fall NBC show reveals, I was wrong. Leno refers to him as "one of the foremost Porsche collectors in the world." His garage includes Steve McQueen's 917 from the movie Le Mans, and a 908 that won the Targa Florio in 1970. If the car talk scares you, just fast-forward to 1:00, when they start chatting about the insanity of people lining the streets for that open road race. Leno: They finally did away with those kind of races because, I don't know, too many people were killed and injured. Seinfeld: I know, but...what's the downside? »

There aren’t many movie watches that merit their own blog post, but then this isn’t your average watch. Oh no, this watch belonged to none other than Hollywood’s King of Cool, Steve McQueen and if that wasn’t enough to prick up your ears it was captured on film in the 1971 racing classic Le Mans. We’re talking about the Heuer Monaco Chronograph, first introduced by Heuer in 1969 to celebrate the Monaco Grand Prix; it became synonymous with McQueen and has become part of the screen legend’s legacy. The New York headquarters of the watch auctioneer will host the sale of “Important Collectors’ Wristwatches Pocket Watch & Clocks” on June 11th and the Tag Monaco is one of three formerly belonging to McQueen, along with one of his vintage motorcycles that is attracting attention. »
