Thieves go to heaven, 9 May 2000
8/10
Author: Eric Sayettat (sayettat@hotmail.com) from Auckland, New Zealand

A thief in the triumphant times of bourgeoisie, Paris and Brussels at the turn of the past century....

A young man acts outside the conventions of conformist society and relies on his charm. He robs the "bourgeois" world but who started in the first place ? Is the thief the one to blame ?

Religion is also derided, priests are not always what they look like...they could be interested in your purse more than in your soul.

Louis Malle breaks a few conventions which are still so many taboos in mainstream and bland cinema.

A good movie has to be daring, this one is a good semi-serious comedy which does not deserve to be left for dead.
