By the early 1960s, Czechoslovakia (now separately Czech Republic and Slovakia) experienced an impressive output of radical, experimental avant-garde cinema, known as the Czech New Wave. At the head of this prolific film era were Jirí Menzel, Jan Nemec, Milos Forman and Vera Chytilová.
Something Different (1963) intersperses two separate narratives---one following Vera, a fictional housewife living in Czechoslovakia, and another following Eva, an Olympic gymnast played by real-life Olympic gold medalist Eva Bosáková.
