Jerry opens the program with his rendition of "When a Red, Red Robin Comes Bob Bob Bobbin' Along" then clowns with comedian Phil Foster who makes a surprise visit. Sam Cooke sings two of his greatest hits. Phil and Jerry performed an extended comedy routine after which Phil interacts with the Marquis Chimps who then perform a series of stunts on their own. After Jerry does a brief monologue about children, opera star Patrice Munsel sings a song from Porgy and Bess and a Arlen/Mercer standard, then Jerry interviews her. After a break, Jerry interviews Cassius Clay who then reads a poem. Senor Wences performs an extended comedy routine and Jerry closes the show with two more songs, including his version of the famous Puccini aria "Nessun Dorma".

Jerry's guests are Sammy Davis Jr. and the Four Step Brothers. Jerry and Sammy perform "I'm Happy." Sammy's songs include "Any Place I Hang My Hat Is Home" and "As Long as She Needs Me." In comedy, Jerry tries to find out who gave Lou Brown permission to play a dirge, and Jerry and Sammy perform unusual tasks like teaching an audience member how walk funny.
