When Marshall Wade comes into town near the start of the movie leading an extra horse, he throws that horse's rein up against a rail and it drops right off. As he steps down from his horse, the other horse's rein is now tightly wound around the rail.
During the shootout in the ghost town, after Richard Widmark has returned, a spear is thrown through the left side of the swinging bar room door, breaking the upper slat. Later, as Widmark runs outside the doors, the slat is obviously unbroken. Further along, the slat is broken.
As Robert Middleton returns to the bar with a shovel, the door slats are intact. As soon as he is inside the door slats are broken. After they cast walks outside the door is unbroken again. It is possible the outside scenes of this bar sequence were all shot first, then interiors were shot later and all spliced together in the correct mixed time sequence of the script.
When Peggy serves the soup she takes the lid off the tureen and sets it toward herself. When she puts it back on, it is to the side of the tureen, closer to Jake.
At the very beginning of the film, Robert Taylor is seen entering the town. In the very next scene, he is seen again entering the town but from the opposite direction. This is evident by the buildings on the left side.
The authenticity of the location filming makes the studio filmed night scenes look all the more artificial.
