Filmed in 1956 in the standard 4:3 flat ratio, theatrical showings in both USA & UK were usually more or less in the matted 16:9 version, but subsequent television showings have usually reverted back to the full screen flat version, as is the Warner Archive DVD-R release.
This film marked the return of the Tarzan franchise to M-G-M, its original home where Johnny Weissmuller had played the title character.
