BBC Radio One’s Live Lounge often brings out the best of the biggest stars, capturing them as they reimagine songs by other artists, but in their distinct style. On Monday, Maggie Rogers stopped by the Live Lounge to perform an acoustic rendition of Tate McRae’s radio staple “Greedy,” slowing down the track and backing it with only guitar and piano.
“I turned the year’s biggest bop into a sad sad slow jam for BBC,” she wrote on Instagram, tagging McRae, who reshared it, writing, “Omggggg.” The rendition...

We feel like we’re on cloud nine listening to this Kellyoke cover.
On her talk show’s musical segment this week, Kelly Clarkson performed a piano-backed rendition of Katy Perry’s hit, “Wide Awake.”
Accompanied by Musical Director Jason Halbert, the singer slowed down the Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection ballad and performed the Perry favorite acoustically, showing off her stellar vocal range.

“Ya know, I did go full method,” reveals Jack Black to us on Crew Call in regards to how he prepped for the role of Mega villain Bowser in Illumination/Nintendo/Universal’s Super Mario Bros Movie.

“It’s amazing how the research for Bowser was similar to what I was already doing, but, by God, I did it.”
At the top of today’s conversation with Black is how he came to craft the power ballad “Peaches” with Tenacious D producing partner John Spiker which Bowser booms in the $1.36 billion grossing animated movie. I can still smell the Tanfastic – the 70s fake stuff we’d smother ourselves in so we looked like Romans. I remember the excitement of having real girls over from Broughton Hall [Catholic high school, in Liverpool] to play the queen and women. Joe Hartley – his patience must have been saint-like. His love for poetry was infectious. I’d never heard of Rada until he mentioned it. I can remember him saying that Glenda Jackson went there and being really impressed, because Glenda was the Queen of England and also one of our own.

Wednesday night on “The Masked Singer,” judge Ken Jeong got choked up after hearing Gazelle belt out “The One That Got Away” during the “NFL Night” episode. The notoriously bad guesser started out his comments by declaring, “Okay, real talk. You don’t hear me talk like this a lot, but I never get so moved by an actual voice.” He admitted that he doesn’t “have the ear” that his fellow panelists Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg have, and so he “might be wrong,” but that he thought Gazelle could be actress Constance Wu.
“It sounds like someone who I genuinely love who is a dear friend of mine,” Jeong said as he started breaking down in tears. “And I think just hearing this voice, this may be Constance Wu. And even if it’s not you, I just want you know I’m thinking about Wu.

There are any number of tricks and gimmicks that dating reality show producers have tapped lately to make their series stand out. In some cases, that means incorporating some form of completely made-up technology into the mix: Are You the One? has the Truth Booth, Too Hot to Handle has Lana, and The One That Got Away has the ominous portal. While a little too contrived, these robotics are ultimately harmless, reading more as silly than scientific. But Deep Fake Love, a new Spanish reality dating series that premiered July 6 on Netflix, ventures into a much more unsettling realm, employing deep fake A.I. technology to put couples to the test.

With its list of new releases for June 2023, Prime is bringing a handful of Amazon Originals and many recent movie hits to the fold.
It’s actually quite a busy month for non-American programming in Amazon Originals department. Shows and movies like Deadloch, My Fault, and Medellín all originate from outside the U.S. and U.K. For the American and British crowd, however, the streamer is debuting two big tentpoles.
The first is I’m a Virgo on June 23. Acclaimed director Boots Riley’s TV followup to Sorry to Bother You will tale the surreal and satirical tale of a giant in Oakland. That will be followed by the more conventional (assumedly) fourth season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on June 30.

“In this one-of-a-kind social experiment, four individuals attempt to find their perfect spouse via astrological matchmaking. Their romantic adventure takes place at a retreat run by a mystical guide, the Astro Chamber. They mingle, match, date, eliminate, and eventually make the biggest decision of their lives… will they marry their match, based solely on their astrology?”
The show’s astrologers are Ophira and Tali Edut (The AstroTwins), and they’ll guide the singles throughout the season through something the show is dubbing the “Astro Chamber” (voiced by Cree Summer).
“The One That Got Away,” hosted by singer/songwriter Betty Who, will premiere with all 10 episodes on June 24. Here...

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Monday’s episode of “9-1-1.”)
Buck (Oliver Stark) was forced to take a hard look at himself on Monday’s “9-1-1,” when he met and bonded with Red, an elderly firefighter who lost the love of his life back in the day because he put his job first and dies alone by the end of the episode. Stark says this brief but meaningful encounter leaves Buck wondering where he goes from here with his choices — both inside and outside of the 118 — so that he doesn’t end up like Red. It’s also going to serve as lead-in for him to run into a very important person from his own past.
“I think the only thing in the current moment that is a sure-fire certainty is that he has his people in the firehouse,” Stark told TheWrap. “These are people that will be in...

On Sunday’s “American Idol,” two of the Top 8 contestants were eliminated: Walker Burroughs and Alyssa Raghu. They performed admirably but the competition on Queen Night was just too tough. They fell just short of making the Top 6 who will sing again for America’s votes on May 5. Those leading half dozen vote-getters as revealed by Ryan Seacrest are: Alejandro Aranda, Laci Kaye Booth, Wade Cota, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Laine Hardy and Madison VanDenburg.(Vote in our ‘American Idol’ Top 8 winner poll.)
We asked you which of the two artists to be sent home was robbed of a place in the Top 6. Your overwhelming pick is Walker, a 20-year-old charmer from Birmingham, who captured a whopping 76% of the vote as of this writing. Alyssa, a 16-year-old talent from Orlando, has registered 24% of the total tally to date. Which of these artists would you most like to have seen avoid elimination and continue in the competition?...

The Sunday April 28 episode of the ABC revival of “American Idol” showcased the Top 8. Each of the finalists sang one song from the Queen back catalogue. And they paired up for duets of classic movie tunes. America voted for their favorites in real-time, with the results revealed by host Ryan Seacrest at the end of the two-hour live episode. The top six vote-getters — Alejandro Aranda, Laci Kaye Booth, , Wade Cota, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Laine Hardy, and Madison VanDenburg — moved on in the competition to be crowned winner of season 17.
The bottom two — Walker Burroughs and Alyssa Raghu — faced elimination and were sent home after the three judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie chose not to use their single save of the season. Which of these two artists do you think was robbed of a place in the Top 8?

The “American Idol” Top 8 will sing Queen songs and also duet with another contestant on a movie tune as they vie for your votes on Sunday April 28. Only six of them will make it to the next stage of the competition and continue on in their quest to be crowned season 17 winner. Early favorite Alejandro Aranda, whose audition video went viral, is far out front in our viewers poll. But while he still takes a commanding 39% of the total tally, Laine Hardy has jumped up to 22% support.
The only other contestants to crack double digits in our power rankings are Wade Cota with 11% and Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon at 10%. Laci Kaye Booth and Madison VanDenburg each have a lucky 7%. The two contestants all but certain to be sent eliminated on Sunday’s show are Walker Burroughs (3%) and Alyssa Raghunandan (2%).

No one expected Monday’s episode of American Idol — which narrowed its crop of finalists down to 10 — to be easy, but I don’t think anyone expected it to be this messy, either.
From Ryan Seacrest’s uncomfortable walk-and-talks with the contestants (most of whom responded with one-word answers in a desperate attempt to move on) to his super awkward announcements of the individual results (those fake-outs were… bad), the season’s first official live episode was… kind of a mess. And that’s not even including the times that the judges literally discussed how awkward this show’s elimination process is.

No one was more surprised to learn that Katy Perry wrote 2011's "The One That Got Away" about Josh Groban than the singer himself. Last year, while promoting her Witness album, she disclosed to James Corden that he had inspired the song, saying, "He's one of my good friends." Groban was caught off guard again Thursday when a viewer called in to Bravo's Watch What Happens Live and asked for his reaction to Perry's revelation. "We did [date]," he told host Andy Cohen and fellow guest Queen Latifah. "We were both very private, and so we realized we were better as friends. And we've been very, very good friends to this day. John Wayne plays a German sea captain in a film that goes out of its way to create a favorable image of our former enemy, with hardly a Nazi flag or even a German accent in sight. Wayne and his co-star Lana Turner are as Teutonic as Blondie and Dagwood, yet the film works as a basic adventure – we like the charismatic star, and the sea chase format guarantees extra interest.

There’s no question about it: Adele is one-of-a-kind.
