First film to be produced by Michael Deeley.
At the end, when Supt Quilt and Sgt Brown tumble out of Maxie's Club, all the tattered wall posters show dates that relate to 1956 (the year of the film's release; it was made in 1955) except the one for the army boxing tournament. The most recent Thursday 25th Jan was in 1951. The tournament was held at Brander House in Broomhill Road, Wandsworth - a TA centre - long demolished.
This film is an adaptation of an episode from the long-running BBC radio program "The Goon Show", which featured Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, and Harry Secombe.
