Sequin : I'd like to know how we stand.
Dan Corrigan : Same way we always stood.
Sequin : That's not good enough.
Dan Corrigan : What's wrong with it?
Sequin : For one thing you're out in the woods 8 or 9 months of every year.
[pauses]
Sequin : I'd like to get married and have a home someday, Dan.
Dan Corrigan : [sternly] But you don't wanna marry a back country logger, is that it?
Sequin : That's it.
Dan Corrigan : Then you better get yourself a new Corrigan.
Sequin : Why?
Dan Corrigan : I seen too many men work themselves to death for an ambitious woman.
Sequin : [angrily] Do you want to be a river rat *all* your life?
Dan Corrigan : Why not? You've got something driving you that's making you miserable, that's fine, let it drive you as far as you like - but don't try to push me, Sequin.

Beauvais : [referring to Dan Corrigan] Go ahead, make a gentleman out of him. He's just stupid enough to be good material... but after he gets to be a gentleman, he'll want a lady
[shakes his head]
Beauvais : ... not you.
Sequin : I'd be a little careful of how I talked if I were you.
Beauvais : One thing's certain, Sequin. All your money, and all your timberland, will never make a lady out of you.
Sequin : Why, you -
[throws deck of cards at him]
Beauvais : See what I mean?
