Sex & Nudity

  • In the opening scenes, Walter makes his way through his office at the publishing company, passing many posters of the covers of pulp novels produced there. They all feature rather immodestly-dressed women in poses from tasteless books on "Racy Detective Stories, Sensational Murders, Wild Confessions, Exotic Love, Sea Stories, " monsters, romance, and more. It is presented as the set-up for a joke, as the last poster reads "Good Taste and Good Reading for Thirty Years .... Pierce Publications"
  • Walter hides in a department store changing room and is suddenly surrounded by several store models wearing corsets that look like ballet costumes. It is presented as an uncomfortable situation for Walter.
  • During a rain storm, Rosalind sneaks into Walter's house to warn him of danger. Because she is soaked from the rain, she takes off her dress to dry it by the stove, so she is wearing only a full-length black slip. He comments that it looks like an evening dress on her.
  • An illustrator in Walter's office is working on a book cover/poster for "Jungle Tales" showing a woman wielding an axe. She already has torn clothes off one shoulder. The artist mentions that he "could tear the dress off her other shoulder. Walter suggests more blood on the axe.
  • A scene takes place at a fashion show of women in fancy corsets. With innocent intent, Walter asks a man if he can check his wife's corset, causing the man to accuse his wife of infidelity.

  • Walter visits a psychiatrist (Boris Karloff) who tries to convince him that he is having delusions. Karloff references a former patient, saying that no matter how a woman in dressed, the patient saw her wearing a bathing suit. At that moment, the nurse walks in wearing her nurse cap and a bathing suit, to try make Walter believe he is seeing things that aren't true.
