When it comes to the Manhattan Theatre Club’s upcoming production of Lillian Hellman’s The Little Foxes, which will see Laura Linney and Cynthia Nixon playing Regina Hubbard Giddens and Birdie Hubbard in repertory appearing opposite each other during every performance, it’s anybody’s guess at how exactly it’s going to come together. “It’s a big experiment for everybody,” says Linney, who actually suggested that she and Nixon rotate the roles and, admittedly, has no idea if it’s actually going to work. “I love that I have no idea.” For both actors, it’s quite possible the greatest thing about it.
“The bizarre thing is trying to find your own Regina and your own Birdie while the actress across from you is also trying to find it,” Nixon says, while adding that the whole concept is “very liberating.”
“I’m sure Cynthia and I are going to play both parts differently, and who...

Jennifer Lee: Just one week after the passing of her mother, award-winning journalist Cynthia McFadden, co-anchor of ABC's "Nightline," sat down to talk with momlogic.
On traveling with her 11-year-old son, Spencer (he's been to 30 countries so far!):
"People have often asked me if I'm exposing him to too much," says Cynthia. But she feels that travel is life-enhancing, and that Spencer (who's named after Spencer Tracy) has blossomed from his exposure to other people and places. "He's curious and passionate," she says. "He's learned compassion and understanding. He has a great sense of adventure or respect for people who are different and live differently than he in other parts of the world. He's gained a sense that we are all connected in some way."
On what she's learned about prejudice and racism from traveling with her son:

The DGA, which unveiled the small-screen nominations in eight categories last Friday, will announce the winners Jan. 30 at its 62nd annual awards ceremonies at the Century Plaza Hotel. AMC’s Mad Men received three Directors Guild of America TV nominations for drama series and HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm and Fox’s Glee each got a pair for comedy. The nominations included a trio of season finales in Mad Men, Curb and ABC’s Lost. In the comedy category, two shows — the pilot for ABC’s Modern Family and Glee — also received nominations.
Thomas Carter scored a nomination in the TV movie-miniseries category for TNT’s Gifted Hands — The Ben Carson Story along with Bob Balaban for Liftetime’s George O’Keefe, John Kent Harrison for CBS’s The Courageous Heart of Irene Sandler, Ross Katz for HBO’s Taking Chance and Michael Sucsy for HBO’s Grey Gardens.

Coming up for the cognoscenti and literati is Dr. Denis Leary's next, "Why We Suck: A Feel Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid." Smart, sardonic, fierce, also savage and profane, the writer/comic ravages the politically correct, the hypocrisy of policy, the obese, the thin and basically every overdog who ever barked other than his publisher Viking. Have an excerpt:
"I'm sick of low esteem and fake fat-suit-wearing female talk-show hosts and extreme makeovers and steroid-laden home run hitters and Reese Witherspoon movies and Paris Hilton's himbo boyfriends and celebrity rehab and Dr. Phil.
