Sarah McKlennar is hit with an arrow high in the left breast. The arrow (or shaft) is pulled out. When we see her on her deathbed, she still seems to be wearing the same bodice, but the fabric is intact; there is no hole or bloodstain.
When Gil is running to the next fort for help, he crosses a stream with the three Indians in hot pursuit. The next scene shows him running into the woods and his pants are completely dry.
When the Indian "Blue Back" first appears in the Martins' cabin, he is carrying a rifle across his chest. He later leaves. When he re-enters, the same original shot of him carrying the rifle is used. Then a second camera shot shows Blue Back standing in the doorway, this time without a rifle.
When Gil and Lana are talking to the innkeeper, he is holding a candlestick while he makes a joke about Caldwell's eye patch. After he laughs at his own joke, there is a quick cut and he bids the pair good night, but suddenly Gil is holding the candlestick.
The real William Caldwell was not killed in the Mohawk Valley assault on the fort as suggested by the film, but lived to fight on the British side during the War of 1812.
At the end of the movie, a colonial troop enters the fort and the commander declares that Cornwallis surrendered to Washington at Yorktown and the "war is over." In actuality, although most heavy fighting did end, the war carried on for another two years after Yorktown.
At the end of the movie, the characters are shown seeing the stars and stripes for the first time. In fact, the national flag was adopted in June 1777 and Cornwallis' surrender at Yorktown was in October 1781, at which point, American forces had been using the flag for more than four years.
When the Indians first attack the settlers during the land clearing, the first Indian to shoot at the fleeing settlers fires a musket shot and then falls down as though shot before anyone returns fire.
After the rescue party saves the fort, there is a distant shot of the fort being rebuilt and the Stars and Stripes is being hoisted up to the church. Later, the returning Continentals enter the fort and the locals act as if they have never seen this flag before.
When the camera zooms in on Lana looking out the window, the shadow of the camera can be seen against the wall.
