One scene takes place in from of a theatre where posters for The Vampire Bat (1933) are on display. "The Vampire Bat" was one of Majestic's biggest hits, and remains the most widely seen of its existing films. It had gone into release about three months before the release of this film.
First shown on television 11/26/39 on New York City's pioneer, and still experimental television station W2XBS, which would not receive its full-time commercial stature until it was re-christened WNBT (Channel 1) on 6/29/41.
The failure of the original copyright holder to renew the film's copyright resulted in it falling into public domain, meaning that virtually anyone could duplicate and sell a VHS/DVD copy of the film. Therefore, many of the versions of this film available on the market are either severely (and usually badly) edited and/or of extremely poor quality, having been duped from second- or third-generation (or more) copies of the film.
