Welcome to this review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly. Let’s see what went down on this week’s show!
Match #1: Queen of the Ring Quarterfinal Match – Iyo Sky def. Shayna Baszler The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
A renewal of an epic rivalry highlighted this Queen of the Ring Quarterfinal clash between Shayna Baszler and former WWE Women’s Champion Iyo Sky. Sky took out Baszler’s knee before hitting a superb moonsault from the the top rope onto Baszler outside the ring. Baszler looked to have Sky fading in the Kirifuda Clutch, but Sky booked her ticket to the semifinals after hitting the Over the Moonsault, somehow surviving the punishment of Baszler.
My Score: 3.5 out of 5 Match #2: King of the Ring Quarterfinal Match – Gunther def. Kofi Kingston The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Hey, "The Rookie" fans. Unfortunately, we're back on here with some pretty bad news for you guys because the ABC people have decided to pump the brakes on new The Rookie episodes for a while. They're not airing the next, new episode 7 of this current season 6 tonight, April 16, 2024 and next Tuesday night, April 23, 2024. According to ABC's official episode 7 press release, ABC isn't airing the new episode 7 until Tuesday night, April 30, 2024. During that time, it will show up in its usual, 8 pm central standard time slot. We did find out what ABC is dishing up instead of new The Rookie episodes tonight and next Tuesday night. According to the TV guide listings, ABC is airing a couple of repeat episodes for The Rookie. Tonight, they're re-airing the 3rd episode of this current season 6 titled, "Trouble in Paradise." The Rookie left fans in a somewhat cruel place for a few weeks, with the last new episode on April 9 ending with heartbreak and the next new one not on until April 30. ABC will be airing reruns for the next two Tuesdays, on April 16 and 23. Like other shows, due to the actors’ and writers’ strikes over the summer of 2023, The Rookie kicked off its current season later than usual (in February vs. September), and it will be a shortened one. Usually, during the course of a season, there are some weeks without episodes, with production ongoing. Such could be the case here. But this also gives you the chance to catch up on some of this season’s episodes with reruns. On April 16, ABC will be re-airing Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Bailey’s (Jenna Dewan) honeymoon episode, “Trouble in Paradise,” the third of the current season. Their dream vacation turns...

This article contains spoilers for the season 5 premiere of "Star Trek: Discovery."
With an ensemble cast as large as the one in "Star Trek: Discovery," it can't be easy to find a way to give each and every major character their own moment to shine. Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) is all but guaranteed to play a significant role in any given episode, naturally, as is David Ajala's Cleveland Booker. Recent seasons have even committed to shining a brighter spotlight on the supporting cast at large, devoting much more screen time and emotional heavy-lifting to characters like Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman), Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp), Dr. Culber (Wilson Cruz), and Adira (Blu del Barrio). But Doug Jones' charismatic performance as the even-keeled Saru has always helped elevate "Discovery" to greater heights, serving much of the same narrative and thematic purpose as classic franchise characters like Spock or Data.

Ashanti & Nelly’s Relationship Timeline(Photo Credit –Instagram)
Ashanti and Nelly, one of the most high-profile couples in the music world, took over the internet when they rekindled their romance after a decade. They have once again made news as the source has claimed the singer/actress is allegedly pregnant. The rumors started after the couple at Nelly’s Black and White Ball in St Louis. Their relationship dates back a decade, and, as they say, no matter how far apart two hearts drift away, they are meant to be; they will find a way to be together.
The couple has also worked together, and their collaborative song Body On Me, also featuring Akon, is one of the most notable works and is still loved by the fans. They always kept their romantic life low-key and were shy about their relationship. However, the songstress spoke about what went wrong between them sometime after the breakup.

"No good thing lasts forever" feels like the sort of poignant theme you'd expect to pop up in a Mike Flanagan horror project. So it goes in real life, too, with Flanagan's latest series, the Edgar Allan Poe-inspired modern Gothic drama "The Fall of the House of Usher" (read /Film's review by Chris Evangelista here), slated to serve as his final Netflix offering.
Since his breakout success on the horror film "Oculus," Flanagan has become synonymous with the streamer's scarier output. In addition to directing Netflix's "Gerald's Game" (an all-timer among Stephen King film adaptations that features one of the gnarliest moments put to screen in recent memory), he created the company's acclaimed "Haunting" anthology series, as well as the polarizing but deeply fascinating religious horror drama show "Midnight Mass." So why is Flanagan done with Netflix? The short answer is that he and his producing partner, Trevor Macy,...

It was more than a little heartening to see Roger Corman paid tribute by Quentin Tarantino at Cannes’ closing night. By now the director-producer-mogul’s imprint on cinema is understood to eclipse, rough estimate, 99.5% of anybody who’s touched the medium, but on a night for celebrating what’s new, trend-following, and manicured it could’ve hardly been more necessary. Thus I’m further heartened seeing the Criterion Channel will host a retrospective of Corman’s Edgar Allan Poe adaptations running eight films and aptly titled “Grindhouse Gothic,” though I might save the selections for October.
Centerpiece, though, is a hip hop series including Bill Duke’s superb Deep Cover, Ghost Dog, and numerous documentaries––among them Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest, making Michael Rapaport a Criterion-approved auteur. We have some sad news to share today, as Hollywood has lost one of its most legendary icons: Raquel Welch has passed away at the age of 82. Deadline reports that Welch’s passing was confirmed by her reps at Media 4 Management, who simply said that she had died after a brief illness.
Welch was born Jo Raquel Tejada on September 5, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, but her family moved to San Diego, California when little Raquel was just two years old. She knew as a youngster that she wanted to get into the entertainment industry, and studied ballet for several years while entertaining – and winning – beauty contests. She attended San Diego State College on a theater arts scholarship, but despite doing some stage acting and landing a job as a weather presenter on the local news, it took a while for her to break through into films. In fact, Welch had married...

Raquel Welch, an international sex symbol and icon of the 1960s and 70s has died after a brief illness, according to her management company Media Four. Welch was 82.
Welch’s films included “Fantastic Voyage,” “The three Musketeers” and “Legally Blonde.”
Welch is best known for her breakout role in “Fantastic Voyage” (1966), after which she was signed to a talent contract with 20th Century Fox. She followed that with “One Million Years B.C.” in which she had only three lines. But her skimpy two-piece deerskin bikini became a best-selling poster and launched her into star status as an international sex symbol.

Welch would then go on to star with Dudley Moore and Peter Cook in “Bedazzled” (1967) and star in the Western “Bandolero!” (1968) opposite Dean Martin and James Stewart.

For most of Hollywood history, the romantic comedy was a staple of theatrical moviegoing. From the glory days of Ernst Lubitsch (“Trouble in Paradise”) and George Cukor (“Adam’s Rib”) in the classical studio era to the onslaught of Julia Roberts, Matthew McConaughey, and Reese Witherspoon vehicles in the 1990s and early 2000s, pretty people saying funny things while falling in love was a consistent and reliable form of big screen entertainment. In the last few years, however, the genre largely moved to streaming, with studio slates leaning disproportionately toward comic book movies and other preexisting IP while reserving slots devoted to more modestly budgeted fare for horror films.
Yet the theatrically released, well-resourced romantic comedy made a glorious return to the big screen in 2022 with “Ticket to Paradise,” director Ol Parker’s hilarious and sweetly moving George Clooney and Julia Roberts vehicle. The movie has many pleasures, from Clooney and...

The lasting horror of war is the blight it leaves on the lives of those left behind. Early sound pictures tried to deal with the guilt and pain of WW1, and the great Ernst Lubitsch took time out from romantic comedies and musicals for this very grim rumination on lies and responsibility. A French soldier decides to contact the family of a German he killed in the trenches; with no clear purpose or plan, he’s apt to make things worse for everybody. Lionel Barrymore and Nancy Carroll are wonderful, but you’ll choke up in the scenes with the German mother, played by Louise Carter. The film is best known for its opening montage, in which Lubitsch openly attacks the hypocrisy of militarist patriotism. It’s an exceedingly effective, non-hysterical piece of anti-war filmmaking.

During a FaceTime conversation, Ximena shares that, while there have been sweet moments with her American suitor, she's turned off by his "super gross" behavior. Trouble in paradise. On Thursday, April 15, MTV released the dramatic trailer for Siesta Key's upcoming fourth season. And, as the just-released footage promises, all is not right in the beachside Florida town. The juicy first look kicks off with an ominous message read by cast members Chloe Trautman, Brandon Gomes, Juliette Porter, Kelsey Owens, Amanda Miller and Madisson Hausburg. The dramatic voice-over warns, "Living in Siesta Key is paradise. And then, you grow up and realize that all that glitters isn't gold. You have to take responsibility and fight for what you love. Because sooner or later, the tide will turn." This is definitely the case for Chloe, who appears to announce her...

CineSavant’s hands-down favorite holiday film, this Ernst Lubitsch classic radiates human kindness in all directions. Nobody is perfect: misunderstandings benign and profound are the gentle impetus for a sweet story that will renew one’s belief that people are basically good. It’s James Stewart’s best pre-war performance, as he fits his character so perfectly; as in last month’s The Mortal Storm he and Margaret Sullavan exude decency and ‘niceness’ even when they’re being rude to each other. Frank Morgan tops his Wizard characterization, and the movie is so generous that it lets the nervy little go-getter William Tracy be the hero of the day. I’m glad this wasn’t re-invented as a sitcom, but they sure ran it through the remake hurdles.

Sprawling across 30-plus miles, housing 115,000 people, featuring 12 golf courses, and countless restaurants—the Villages is the biggest 55+ retirement community in the world. New York Film Festival closing-night selection “French Exit” is that rare gem of 2020: a high-profile new movie that nobody has seen. Released by Sony Pictures Classics, it is a close collaboration between two old friends, author-turned-screenwriter Patrick DeWitt and director Azazel Jacobs (“The Lovers”). The director lured Michelle Pfeiffer and Lucas Hedges to star in this comedy confection, adapted by DeWitt from his novel about a once-wealthy widow who leans on her handsome 20-something son for support. When she decamps to Paris with wads of cash after selling off all her worldly goods, it’s understood that her son will accompany her, leaving behind his one-time fiancee (Imogen Poots).
“What’s special about the film,” said NYFF head programmer Dennis Lim at Friday’s virtual press conference, “was its unusual, unpredictable tone. It’s surreal and dark and deadpan, and also heartfelt, as some changes happen moment to moment.

Does a musical have to have big dance numbers, glorious cinematography and stereophonic sound? I agree with a consensus of critics and fans that this 1932 pre-Code marvel is the best musical romance of all. Maurice Chevalier may be ‘nothing but a tailor’ yet he steals the heart of Jeanette MacDonald’s princess and shocks her titled, discriminating family. Forget MGM operetta saccharine and say hello to a sexed-up fling annotated with suggestive pre-Code dialogue and song lyrics. Some of the better naughty content is delivered by Myrna Loy, who was never as gloriously slinky-seductive. Isn’t it romantic?

Rufus Wainwright released the video for the charming, folksy “You Ain’t Big,” the latest single off his upcoming album Unfollow the Rules, slated for July 10th.
The clip opens in the style of an old film, complete with a scene in an editorial office as a man discusses how he overcame his anger: “How would you feel if you were me?” he says. “You needed to get back to the grassroots, get a little closer to people.”
The video features vintage postcards of heartland cities in the United States.

Rufus Wainwright dropped the wistful “Alone Time,” the final track on his upcoming album, Unfollow the Rules, out July 10th via BMG.
The song is accompanied by an animated clip, as handwritten lyrics take a dreamy adventure through a window and out into the world — passing flowers, cars, and rainy skies. “I need a little alone time/A little dream time,” Wainwright sings across fleeting piano chords. “Don’t worry, I will be back, baby.”
The clip was created by Josh Shaffner and features illustrations by the animator and Wainwright.
