Mowgli says that he didn't steal the buffaloes and they only helped him in the fight against Sher Khan. Baldev is stunned to see the dead body of the tiger who had been attacking their village. Baldev had sent the villagers to collect their buffaloes, and he was alone with Mowgli at the time of this conversation. When the villagers return, Baldev says that Mowgli is lying and that a boy cannot kill a tiger with a torch and a knife. He asks the villagers to search for other clues to figure out exactly what happened. The villagers find 2 dead Hyenas nearby who had been killed by the horns of the buffaloes. Baldev pounces on this and claims that the tiger was gored to death by the buffaloes and not killed by Mowgli. Baldev convinces the villagers that Mowgli is lying to claim Rs 100 award for killing the tiger. Baldev says that Mowgli will be punished, and the award will be distributed amongst the villagers, since their buffaloes killed the tiger. Baldev wants to burn Sher Khan's skin, but Mowgli stops him since Baldev has no right to Sher Khan's skin. Baldev pulls a gun on Mowgli intending to kill him, and Mowgli calls for help. Everyone emerges from their hiding place and Akela pins Baldev down. Baldev concedes that Mowgli has killed the tiger. Mowgli declares that he will bring the skin of Sher Khan to the village. The wolves let the villagers leave. Mowgli returns to the village with the tiger skin but finds that everyone is afraid of him. He takes the tiger skin to his own family and declares that he has killed Sher Khan. Mowgli declares to the village that he has fulfilled his promise. Baldev steps forward and alleges that Mowgli is a wolf. He only looks like a human. The other villagers who were with Baldev, support this narrative and describe how Mowgli is friends with wolves, jaguar, a bear and a python. Baldev declares Mowgli to be Shaitan. The villagers want Mowgli to leave the village. Mowgli's family argues that Mowgli is a human. In face of fierce public opinion, Mowgli decides to leave the village voluntarily. Mowgli takes Sher Khan's skin with him and returns to the jungle. Baldev wants the skin and shoots at Mowgli, but Bagheera secretly arrives and causes a stampede of the buffaloes, causing the villagers to scatter.

They all are also supporting Pehelwan, since he is the Sarpanch of the village and the villagers are hoping for a reward if they support him in punishing Radha and her family members. Bagheera, Akru and Pakdu meet Mowgli outside the village and tell him how Baldev and Lallan were scared unconscious by them. Meanwhile Baldev and Lallan have regained consciousness and are now headed back to the village. The mongoose returns from the village and report to Mowgli that Radha's family is alive, but very weak. He has located the hut in which they have been imprisoned. Mowgli decides to enter the village at night. Bagheera tells Mowgli to be cautious of humans. Pehelwan has lit the pyres at night. Mowgli enters the village with the mongoose as his guide. The villagers are busy chatting near the pyres. The mongoose is able to guide Mowgli through the dark passageways and to the hut where Radha and her family are imprisoned. There are several obstacles, and the villagers are still moving around the village, so Mowgli and the mongoose have to be extremely cautious while making progress towards their destination. The villagers are wondering where Baldev is and hope that he will return soon from the jungle. The target hut is protected by armed guards, but it is towards the back of the village, away from the pyres. At the hut, the mongoose, engages the 2 guards and starts to play with them. The guards were also bored while sitting alone and welcome the distraction and entertainment with the mongoose. Mowgli uses the distraction provided by the mongoose to climb a tree and from there jump on top of the hut. He removes the wooden bars from the attic window and enter the hut. Inside he finds Radha and her family bound at their arms and feet with ropes. Mowgli proceeds to free his family from the ropes. He tells everyone that they need to escape as soon as possible as their lives are in danger. The mongoose keeps the guards distracted, so Mowgli can go about his plan without any obstacles. Bagheera, Akru and Pakdu are waiting for Mowgli outside the village. Akru is getting restless, but Bagheera asks him to have patience as it will take time to rescue the entire family. After a while, Bagheera also gets restless and decides to intervene to help Mowgli in the village. Usha tells Mowgli that she has a brother in another town and proposes to go there for safety of her family. They have not eaten anything for 2 days. As Bagheera enter the village, the bells starts tolling at the pyres.
