- Mark Davis, secret agent No. 07, is after a Nazi treasure hidden somewhere in the Mediterranean waters before the end of WW2. The key to the secret location is hidden in a Goya painting. Mark attends an art auction just in time to see the painting being bought by a lovely young woman. But soon he will discover that there are six other replicas of the painting - each in the possession of a girl, and as many international spies, art dealers, and com men behind the ladies. Mark is already an expert with young women, and now he must become one in art fakes as well.
- 'Duarte de Almeida', director of the Portuguese National Film Archives [deceased in 2009], interviews the dean of contemporaneous film directors [96-years-old then]. Two humanists of different philosophical backgrounds, both with their long, entire lives dedicated to culture in general (music, painting, literature) and to film in particular, discuss freely, sometimes haltingly, the director's power as a creator or a magician, the philosophy beyond particular scenes in classic movies, film technique, the importance of color, sound and music to films, art versus entertainment, and much more. Their talk takes place in a museum room, seating in front of "The Annunciation" (a 1510 oil painting by João Vaz, a Portuguese artist), which eventually leads to a discussion of 'Leonardo da Vinci', and the relationship between a trend-setter master and his disciples. In the end, the movie director decides to come the talk to an end, as it was «becoming endless, like the two of us», and without actually answering the interrogation that starts it: «How can one represent life itself?»

- A mechanical problem forces a Portuguese Navy Pilot to land on the Atlantic Ocean off the islets of Berlengas. Julião, an experienced sea-wolf, and his crew of fishermen, Pedro, Lacrau and Serrote, fish the pilot, and bring him safely ashore. The pilot is rescued at the manor house of the largest isle, where a beautiful girl lives alone. Rosa's humanitarian interest in helping the young man soon converts in a romantic fancy. When he returns to Lisbon, in the continent, she goes with him - and is engulfed in the lively customs of the city, with dress-up balls, dancing, night-clubs and ladies of the night, gambling, and drinking. The opposite of her earlier secluded life... The pilot seems less and less attracted to Rosa, dancing away in the arms of Lisette, and designing a daring project to cross the Atlantic in an airplane alone with a foolish Brazilean Pilot. The two pilots do attempt the ocean crossing, but they fail, and after a rescue attempt by the Navy, they are declared as lost in the sea. Rosa returns to Berlengas, and tries to get back to the simple love that Pedro professed for her once. Only, he does not want her, after she has been away with another man. Rosa attempts suicide by drowning, but Pedro manages to save her, and accept her.
- While the Portuguese Army and volunteers, guided by English officers, beat Massena's Army back at Buçaco, five French soldiers on their escape route come upon an isolated house, where they rob food, and rape the young woman there. When José, a rude mountaineer ('malhadeiro'), returns to his devastated home, he engages in a deadly hunt.

At home, the Baroness gets bored, until she has an idea, soon put to practice. She sends a man a letter, signed Divine Lola, giving him rendez-vous at a discreet pension. The modern Eve is not taking her husband's infidelities sitting down. She lays in her undershirt on a bed inviting her lover in, in a long embrace.
- Three short stories by a great poet and esoterist, Fernando Pessoa, dealing with the themes of life, ascesis, and death - originally brought to the stage at the 1989 Avignon Festival: "Diálogos no Jardim do Palácio" (Dialogues in the Palace's Garden), "Salomé, Sakyamuni", and "A Morte do Príncipe" (The Prince's Death).

- Two young women, a Blonde with her hair parted in the middle of her head, and a Brunette with curly hair, both wearing white shirts, are sitting on chairs at a kitchen table, happily eating ice cream from a plate held between them by the brunette. At the Archivio General de Simancas, Spain, there's a registration of the delivery of D. Sebastião's corpse in Ceuta. Between narratives that were spread through the centuries about D. Afonso Henriques and D. Sebastião, it's difficult to separate truth and myth. Nowadays we have scientific abilities to date ancient remains and artifacts, there is not enough willingness to use them, so mysteries persist.
- A couple of traditional fishermen are linked by a secret vote of chastity. One day, they take in a wounded gypsy man, out of their Christian piety. As time goes by, a relationship, and love emerges between the healthy young woman and the gypsy. The reaction of the local society, and the explosion of repressed sentiments will come to a swirling vortex of violence - abduction, shootings, and forced sex.

Mariana and Joana seem to emulate and spy on each other all the time, and Joana happens to see how, after class, Mariana rips Joana's drawing from the wall exhibit, but in so doing, she drops an ink bottle on the floor. Joana does not say a word, but after Mariana leaves, she takes her rival's drawing off the wall, too. Next, the teacher demands that the culprit for the ink bottle to accuse herself. Mariana doesn't - and Joana comes forward, does taking the punishment she didn't deserve. Or did she? In a child-like ambiance, the very adult themes of envy, spying and fault.

Teresa dies in her convent, after receiving a last love letter from Simão.
- Hakim Gregory escapes from prison by killing a number of guards, and returns to his hide-out abroad, to lead again his gang of drug trafficking and contract murders. Layton of the Secret Service must discover, and arrest him. The difficult mission almost becomes impossible with the rivalry of Layton's partner, Petula, the jealousy of his bride, Marion, the possible treachery of a Spanish woman, Dolores Arrabal, and yet a mysterious and sexy informant, Rosario... Too many women for Layton.
- A young woman and her maid go for a stroll in the park. The maid goes away, and the girl, siting alone in her folding bank, starts feeling the effects of the heat. After a look around to make sure that she is alone, she strips naked, and has a refreshing bath. While she is at it, a middle-aged couple approaches and decides to rob the girl's clothes. The woman strips her own, poor peasant's clothes, and dons on quickly the girl's dress; they leave in a hurry. The girl is distressed when she finds that she has only her undershirt to cover herself. A policeman wearing a white casket appears before the girl can dress, and she runs away, hunted by the policeman. Nearby, a man in a white suit and Panama hat is having a picnic with his family, greets a passing friend, and offers him some refreshment. Before they can toast, they're trample on by the fugitive girl, and the policeman close by. They all stand up and join the chase. A bearded man in a dark suit is out for a stroll in the park, and smoking a cigarette. Out of the woods comes the nude girl, running at him, and pleading for help. By chance, the man had a long cape draped on his left arm, and he promptly helps the girl to regain a modicum of decorum. He escorts her - to somewhere. The policeman, the picnic man and his three female companions, keep the chase on through the thick wood - long after they lost sight of the girl.
