Donald Wrye attended UCLA and while there began his directing with an unknown short film. He subsequently wrote and directed short documentaries before proceeding as a major director. He first worked for the U.S, government. He was well respected at UCLA studying in the Theater Arts department as he developed toward his career objectives. - Champion rower Daniel Hubert "Dan" Barrow Jr. was born on July 22, 1909 in Yeadon, Pennsylvania. Barrow first started rowing while a student at West Philadelphia Catholic High School and sat in a combined Philadelphia high school eight which won the 1927 national prep crown. Moreover, Daniel helped the eight-oared shell from the Penn Athletic Club Rowing Association win the World Championships in Belgium in 1930. After switching over to sculling in 1933, Barrow subsequently won the national titles in the doubles in both 1934 and 1935. In addition, Daniel was the 1935 quads national champion and 1936 octuple sculls national champion. In the wake of winning his sole singles championship in 1936, Barrow capped off his impressive athletic career by winning the bronze medal in the men's single sculls at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. Daniel died at age 84 on November 4, 1993 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Sharon S. Hillegas, along with her husband Michael Hillegas Sr, and their son Michael Hillegas Jr, ran MiShar Productions, a full-service entertainment representation company, which was based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They provided agent/management services, as well as training services. In addition, they owned venues across the greater Harrisburg metropolitan area which showcased their own talent rosters, but also allowed for outside productions a place to perform. - In June, 1905, a far-sighted showman, John P. Harris, resolved to try out something new in entertainment. Films were nothing new of course - Harris had shown them in one of his theatres as early as 1897, but only as an added attraction for vaudeville and repertory companies.
Realising that there was a growing public interest in the new medium, however, he took over and re-modelled a small store in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, hung a muslin sheet on one wall and set up 96 chairs and a box-office. Thus making the first purpose built cinema. He needed a name sufficiently intriguing to cause word-of-mouth publicity. So he called it the Nickelodeon. The name was a combination of the admission price and the Greek word for theatre.
A salesman in Kaufmann's department store, just across the street, saw how popular this new venture was and decided he should get in on it as well. That salesman was Harry M. Warner the first of the Warner Brothers. The jewellrey store a few doors away also notices the crowds that flocked there daily. The jeweller was Lewis J. Selznick who decided to become a film producer as well. - Clyde Hager was born on 2 December 1887 in Mitchell, South Dakota, USA.
