What's that thing about the Butterfly Effect theory? That the smallest movement can start a ripple in a pond that could one day lead to a violent storm halfway around the way? Well, we have our butterfly flapping its wings.
It comes to us courtesy of a French website called Spielberg News, which apparently covers more than than. Despite being a rather unlikely source for this information, it appears that the site has learned that Josh Brolin might take over the classic role of Snake Plissken in the remake of Escape from New York.
"C’est notre scoop de la semaine," the site begins. "Une source proche de la production (si, si) nous a assuré que c’est désormais Josh Brolin qui serait sur les rangs pour reprendre le rôle de Snake Plissken dans le remake actuellement en projet de New York 1997."

Warren Zide, producer of the "American Pie" and "Final Destination" franchises, is partnering with Parallel Media in a $70 million production financing deal covering eight films, one of which is titled Bat Out of Hell, which was written by Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan, the duo behind the Masters of Horror episodes "Pro-Life" and "John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns". The projects will be co-produced through Parallel Zide as a new division of Parallel Media, backed by Russian mogul Olga Mirimskaya. The new division will produce at least two genre movies a year in the $4 million-$15 million range. No other details were given.

Contrary to other reports, John Carpenter is in fact locked in, but the exit of Mick Garris is fact true. More as it develops. Are you ready for this? Bloody-Disgusting has discovered seven of the directors chosen to take part in Mick Garris' TV series, Fear Itself, a new horror-anthology airing on NBC. Like "Masters of Horror," "Fear" will feature 60-minute films by big-name horror writers and directors. It will be exec produced by Keith Addis, Andrew Deane and Mick Garris, with Adam Goldworm and Ben Browning producing. Inside you'll find a list of the first seven directors, with more to come!
