On April 17, 2024, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) celebrates the 100th anniversary of its founding. MGM was formed by combining three existing studios: Metro Pictures, Goldwyn Pictures and Louis B. Mayer Pictures into one major studio. Louis B. Mayer was tapped to lead the newly formed MGM, with 24-year-old wunderkind Irving Thalberg appointed as its head of production.
