Left 4 Dead 2 Dlc Brings Survivors Together

Left 4 Dead survivors Louis, Bill, Francis and Zoey will make a triumphant return as the highlight of a new Left 4 Dead 2 Dlc pack.
Valve announced the foursome will team up with the sequel's survivors for a new campaign, The Passing, that will be available for download in spring 2010. The Passing takes place after the Dead Center campaign in a small Georgia town.
The Dlc will also offer new maps that can be used in the Scavenge, Survival and Versus modes, and a new "special" zombie, a melee weapon and a firearm.
Pricing and exact availability for the Left 4 Dead 2 Dlc pack on Xbox 360 and PS3 will be made available closer to release.

Nic Cage as Big Daddy in Kick-Ass Poster and Clip

Ugo has debuted a new clip and one-sheet poster revealing Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy in Lionsgate's upcoming "ode to movie nerds" film, Kick-Ass.
In the clip, Big Daddy teaches his daughter, Hit-Girl, a lesson about not being afraid of guns by making her don a bulletproof vest and then firing a slug into her. It's wicked and just a hint of the craziness that Kick-Ass promises to bring based on last weekend's sneak peek screening at the Alamo Drafthouse Bnat event.
Meanwhile the poster reveals Cage in full front-on Big Daddy attire which looks like the Sport's Authority version of a Batman suit. Can't wait to see him in action when Kick-Ass releases on April 16, 2010.

Inglourious Basterds Blu-ray Review with D-box

Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds is the director's self-proclaimed "masterpiece," a project he has been referencing for years but felt necessary to tackle others beforehand. It is every bit as much steeped in cinema history as his past works, though more cleverly disguised by its era and setting. One viewing is not enough to take it all in which has made the wait for the high definition Blu-ray Disc release hard to endure.
Set "Once upon a time in Nazi-occupied France, 1941," Inglourious Basterds tells two stories: Story one revolves around Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent), a young Jewish woman who witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of sadistic Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Narrowly escaping her own execution, Shosanna flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as an owner of a movie theater.

Sigourney Weaver Avatar Interview Yields Aliens Blu-ray Scoop

Sigourney Weaver recently sat down with the La Times to talk about her role as brash cigarette smoking botanist Grace Augustine in James Cameron's Avatar. Like any good reporter, interviewer Geoff Boucher made sure to ask Weaver what's next on her plate. The answer is just what Blu-ray adopters have been waiting for.
Sometime in the next few weeks, Sigourney will sit down and watch Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection to record new audio commentaries for the upcoming release of the Quadrilogy on Blu-ray Disc.
"I've never done that, watched all of them in a row," Weaver said. "I just recently made my [19-year-old] daughter watch them. She had never seen them before, believe it or not. I think she just prefers to think of me as good ol' mom, you know, not some person running around a spaceship with a flamethrower."

The Stepfather Comes Home to Blu-ray

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the fall 2009 thriller The Stepfather starring Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck), Sela Ward, Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl) and Amber Heard (Zombieland) is coming to Blu-ray Disc and DVD on February 9.
The release has been dubbed the "unrated director's cut" by Sony yet appears to share the same 101 minute runtime as the theatrical cut. There could be a typo at play here in the press release but for now assume any changes in the director's cut are minimal at best.
Tech specs are not confirmed but should include a 1080p transfer and 5.1 DTS-hd Master Audio. I do have the final list of bonus features which reads as follows:

Lord of the Rings Trilogy Blu-ray Gets a New Date

After shelving what was to be the December arrival of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings Trilogy theatrical versions on Blu-ray, Warner has come back with a new date and additional goodies for Tolkien fans.
As was the case with the scheduled and then canceled edition, the April 6 arrival of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy on Blu-ray will be strictly the theatrical versions. Warner is promising the extended cuts at a later date (which speculatively could be timed with the theatrical release of The Hobbit films).
In addition, a week later on April 13 will see Warner release Ralph Bakshi's animated adaptation of The Lord of the Rings in a Blu-ray deluxe edition. No further details on that are available at this time.
The Trilogy set will span 9 discs with three discs allotted for the films and their trailers in high definition, three for digital copies of each film,

South Park Season Thirteen Headed to Blu-ray

The thirteenth season of Comedy Central's South Park has been announced for a simultaneous Blu-ray Disc and DVD debut on March 16.
The release marks the third appearance of South Park on Blu-ray with the first two being comprised of the Bigger, Longer and Uncut film and season twelve. There is no word yet on back seasons making their way to Blu-ray.
Season thirteen on Blu-ray will span three discs and include all 14 episodes in 1.78:1 1080p video and 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio. Mini-commentaries by show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will be included on every episode.

Blu-ray has found itself in the spotlight of Amazon.com's Gold Box Deal of the Day for the second time in less than two weeks.
Back on December 8, Amazon heavily discounted Lost Seasons 1-5 on Blu-ray Disc. For today only, HBO's Band of Brothers: The Complete Miniseries has received a similarly deep discount.
