Review: Is 'Avatar' really worth the hype?
Debates continue to be waged amongst the many various and frenzied forums, blogs, and in the news cycles about whether James Cameron’s future fantasy flick Avatar [ Sam Worthington Terminator Salvation, Clash Of The Titans, Zoe Saldana Star Trek, Michelle Rodriguez "Lost", Giovanni Ribisi, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver ] is really worth the hype. ...What hype, exactly? Well, there are quite a few glowing reviews to consider when it comes to Avatar. ... with a general perusal of the room, you’d likely find pairs of rarely raised thumbs floating eagerly into the air at the mere mention of the film’s name. And the box office reflects that enthusiasm quite earnestly. (At last count, Avatar surpassed $300 million in ticket sales on the domestic front and edges toward an $800 million worldwide intake.) Of course, fares in the marketplace aren’t always the most accurate thermometer »

'Eclipse' quotes of the week
31 December 2009 3:19 PM, PST
This week's Eclipse discussion surrounds Chapter 3, "Motives." The chapter is quite a memorable one - a fan favorite for many - because of the epic staredown-in-the-parking-lot that takes place between Edward and Jacob. You'll recall of course, that at the end of Chapter 2 (discussed here), Edward's gotten Bella amped up about going to Florida to visit her mother (although the route taken to motivate her was a little, well, precarious). In Chapter 3, they've only just returned from Florida, and Edward notes that "Renée is so much more… perceptive than Charlie in some ways." (page 66). While visiting, Bella remembers, Renee noted Bella and Edward's semi-physical connection to one another (page 67). There’s something… strange about the way you two are together. The way »

Robert Pattinson considered 'most wanted' celebrity of 2009
31 December 2009 10:28 AM, PST
While Robert Pattinson had certainly proven his prowess for screenacting prior to this year (with his work in films like Little Ashes, The Bad Mother's Handbook, Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, and How To Be), in 2009 his name became an unavoidable one in popular culture due to his association with the Twilight series. In fact, he was chosen as the "Most Wanted" celebrity of the year by a research firm which specializes in celebrity information provision. According to their studies, Pattinson was the most sought-after celebrity of the year, topping a list of ten which also included Oprah Winfrey, Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Barack Obama, Kate Gosselin, Selena Gomez, Tyler Perry, Angelina Jolie, and Ellen DeGeneres. While Pattinson's contact information should remain private, it is still interesting to see who people really want to talk to the most by this firm's standards. The resul »

Daniel Cudmore talks 'New Moon,' the film industry, and stunt work
31 December 2009 10:04 AM, PST
Daniel Cudmore ("Felix" in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) went on Blog Talk Radio recently to talk about his experience in the movie industry. In the interview, he revealed that his placement in stunt-work and the Canadian film scene has been helpful in his approach to the huge industry that is the film world. Cudmore also revealed that his initial involvement with drama was a successful, albeit forced, outlet for his hyperactive temperament. "It's strange because sometimes ... when you're in the fishbowl looking out you can't tell ... I'm havin' a lot of fun with it," he said of being a part of the Twilight saga. He was brought to the Twilight saga, he said, with the intent - at first - of seeking a job. He read Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse back-to-back, he said, to do »

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' is one of Fandango's 'Must-see Movies of 2010'
31 December 2009 9:37 AM, PST
For Twilight fans, it's all but a given that June 30, 2010 is a date already saved to see The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Millions strong, the Twilight fandom has certainly proven its capacity to light up any relevant voter-based poll in existence, search engine interest evaluations, and, to put it plainly, the box office. Fandango did a survey recently of the top ten most anticipated films of 2010, and, unsurprisingly, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse made the cut. While Fandango's results may not have come directly from user votes, their selections were certainly reflective of customer interest - which is, by all accounts, rampant thanks to the series' built-in fanbase. Also on the list were Iron Man 2, Alice In Wonderland (starring, incidentally, The Twilight Saga: New Moon's Michael Sheen), Tron: Legacy (also starring Michael Sheen), The A-Team, Clash Of The Titans, Robin Hood, Toy Story 3, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part I, »

'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' ranks highly in movie mistakes list for 2009
29 December 2009 1:41 PM, PST
While The Twilight Saga: New Moon was a fantastic portrayal of Stephenie Meyer's story, it was not free of the various continuity errors that seem to find themselves into films on a regular basis. According to Movie Mistakes' calculations, there were twenty-nine errors in New Moon (the same amount found in Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian). Some of the errors in ... behind Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen and Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince (with seventy-one mistakes apiece). No film compared to Zac Efron's 17 Again, though, which had a whopping ninety .. »

Stephenie Meyer recommends Elizabeth Eulberg's 'The Lonely Hearts Club'
29 December 2009 11:00 AM, PST
'The Lonely Hearts Club' by Elizabeth Eulberg - Point Publishing Yesterday, Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer updated her website to congratulate her publicist, Elizabeth Eulberg, for the release of her very first novel, The Lonely Hearts Club. Elizabeth has been the publicist for my books from the very beginning, and has (clearly) done an amazing job. She's also worked with scads of other Ya authors. Now her own Ya novel is coming out and I'm so proud of her. Well done, Lizzy! I look forward to reading more from you soon! The book's description is as follows: Penny is sick of boys and sick of dating. So she vows: no more. It's a personal choice. . .and, of course, soon everyone wants to know about it. And a few other girls are inspired. A movement is born: The Lonely Hearts Club (named af »

'Twilightn' one of year's top five most illegally downloaded movies
28 December 2009 11:20 AM, PST
Unfortunately, with regard to Twilight it's not always good news. Among the top five most pirated movies of the year is Twilight, according to the BBC. The film is joined by Star Trek, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, The Hangover, and RocknRolla on that list. Other films which were heavily pirated this year included Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and District 9. While, from the looks of this list (and a scan of their situation in this year's box office), pirating did not hinder a strong showing theater sales, it's still not the most settling news that illegal downloading is one of the lists which the saga tops this year. Though, it does spe . »
